We would highly recommend this property. It is clean, beautifully located on a hill close to the beach with a wonderful restaurant and gorgeous pool. We were treated like family. And we even heard the howler monkeys.

My boyfriend and I had the most relaxing stay here. It was our favorite stop in Costa Rica thus far. The property itself is gorgeous, the food is incredible and the people are so nice and accommodating. We felt like family and will most certainly be back again! Do not hesitate to come here for a little rest and relaxation. It was just what we needed.

We had an amazing time at the lodge. Very friendly staff, and the food was excellent. Our room was very comfortable. The scenery was beautiful. We would highly recommend you staying here. Minutes from the beach.

This lodge is in a quiet area of Costa Rica. The area around the lodge does not have many sights but we enjoyed walking the beach in the morning. The dining was fabulous and the staff were great.

Guacamaya Lodge very peaceful and nice
Great little place with a great restaurant. It's not on the beach but you can hear the waves crashing and you can walk to an amazing sunset in about 5 minutes. Food in the restaurant was spot on and delicious. It may have been the most expensive meal I had in CR but it wasn't out of this world expensive. Nice pool, good drinks, and a large/spacious cabana for a room with good AC and very well kept grounds. It's a quieter place so if you're looking to relax and have a day away from many people, this is a great place

This is a FABULOUS place to stay. We enjoyed relaxing here for 4 nights. Great food, great service, friendly helpful people, and the best pool on our 16 day trip. Alice was so helpful, and the young Michael was very pleasant

I'm not somebody who leaves reviews often but I wanted to make sure I took the time to leave this review - YOU SHOULD STAY HERE!!! The location is fantastic near the beach. The staff is beyond friendly and welcoming - Michael was such a delight and the owners were constantly checking to make sure everything was up to par. The restaurant was incredible (really surprising because we stayed in other parts of Costa Rica after this and nothing else compared). They even arranged for beach horseback riding and the tour ended at our hotel room door. Beyond 5 stars!

Relax!
The lodge was lovely and very well looked after. It’s located in a very quiet area so needs a car or a driver to get to it. The room was very comfortable with a small kitchen and separate bathroom with a large shower. There is air conditioning in the room, but I didn’t use it, as I preferred to leave the windows open and have the natural breeze blow through (there are mosquito screens on every window and there are lots of windows!) The food was excellent and easily accessible from the on site restaurant and bar. The pool is well looked after and sun loungers are available and pool towels provided. The beach is a short 5 minute walk and is very clean and has amazing sunsets. What I really loved about this place was the quiet and being able to hear the sounds of monkeys, birds and insects in the mornings and at night. I highly recommend this lodge for a relaxed and quiet stay.

best place in Junquillal. Family owned and managed. Very friendly good karma environment. Awesome pool and delicious restaurant on site with all day gourmet and local food selections. Peaceful beautiful pool for lounging and relaxing.

Great place!
Our second time here and we plan on going back. We gave it a four rating on comfort because the beds are really hard. We also gave it a four rating on the local area because it is pretty far from a major town. That’s not for everyone but we love it. This lodge is 1-2 miles from secluded beaches with good snorkeling. There are several restaurants close by that have fantastic food, including the one at the lodge. The owners and others guests are very friendly and happy to help in any way. We recommend this place without hesitation. Also, the WiFi works better there than it does where we live here in the states.

Three nights at Guacamaya
For the second half of my vacation, I wanted to stay a small, laid back, low/key place near the ocean, and this describes the the Guacamaya Lodge. Junquillal is a low keyed, laid back, off the radar kind of place with dark volcanic sand beaches. The staff was friendly, the sun was warm, the beach was very clean and only a five minute walk down the hill. The pool was nice, a well stocked bar, ample amenities, owner on hand, and good food. I would definitely go there again.

Tranquil oasis in the middle of the jungle
I can't recommend Guacamaya Lodge enough! Like many amazing things in Costa Rica, we stumbled upon this tranquil quite by accident. We booked 1 night, not sure how long we would stay in the area. We ended up staying 4 nights because we just didn't want to leave! The grounds are perfect for strolling and the room was perfectly comfortable. Don't miss breakfast! We ate every breakfast (and many dinners!) at the lodge because the food and coffee were so delicious! We rarely stay in the same place twice, but we already have plans to go back to Guacamaya Lodge for a week this time!

Quiet and peaceful hotel in a beautiful location.
Alice and her daughter were wonderful! If you are looking for an alternative to busy resorts this is it! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. It looks better than the pictures. We loved the dog Andy and Oscar the cat. Andy walked to the beach with my daughter and our friends. He stayed with us and walked back with us. The food was very fresh and inexpensive. It is not close to a town so if you are looking for night life this isn't for you. We can't wait to go back!

Very nice hotel with a paradise environment
The hotel was spectacular! Very nice hotel with a paradise environment and walking distance to the beach. Beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean with A/C. They had nice towels and very friendly staff. We were in Samara at another place that didn't have a/c and wasn't as nice as this place. I was very fortunate to have found this hotel and didn't mind losing my money for one night at the other. I will definitely come back!!!!

What an awesome place. We had a terrific time at Guacamaya Lodge. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The wait staff was exceptional and the meals were first rate.
