"Just an overnight stay"
Our condo stay in Waikoloa was 1 day short of our travel plans, so needed a place for just a night. Plan was to go snorkeling the afternoon before, and the day after, so really just needed a place to sleep. Check-in was easy, thanks to gracious desk clerk. Ocean-view room assigned was being cleaned as we arrived on 5th floor of Lagoon Tower. In a minute, the cleaning staff were out and we were in. (It should be noted that we were checking in somewhat early, so it was not surprising that the room was not quite ready.) The AC temp was set low enough that the room felt a bit damp (the day was quite humid), but by setting the temp to 78F and opening the door to the lanai, all was soon fresh-smelling. We were delighted to find shops and restaurants conveniently within easy walking distance, and Snorkel Bob's being practically adjacent made our snorkel gear needs easily solved. -- As others have noted, the property is show signs of age, but I believe it is aging well, and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Pocket Guide: Hawaii Kailua-Kona Hawaiian Hotels

Kailua-Kona is the epicenter of shopping and recreation on Hawaii’s western shore. Big-game fishers delight off its waters, while shoppers reel in deals along Alii Drive. The Kailua-Kona area is a hiker’s paradise because many of its best beaches are accessible only by foot. Inland, the scent of coffee permeates the air as plantations harvest precious Kona beans. Nearby coffee farms open for tours.
