Had a terrible room the first night. Went to the front desk and they happily got us into a much nicer accomadation. Spent the next 7 nights quite happy and pampered.

"Not a fan of mega-hotels but the GHK is good one."
Depends what you like. If you are looking for a mega-hotel in the Poipu area, the Grand Hyatt should be on your short list. Its a huge property (~600 rooms on 60+ acres) that has every possible self-contained-resort amenity. Its beautifully landscaped and very clean. There were a few elements which I didn't care for however that may or may not influence your decision depending on what your personal priorities are. The beach (Shipwreck's) at the hotel is strictly for "just looking at" unless you're a strong ocean swimmer/boarder. I like to play in the waves but the surf here was way too pounding and the beach was all reef/rock just a few steps in. I'm not interested in getting pummeled into or walking on rocks. There's also no lounge chairs on the beach itself either because what little sand there is is subject to surf (at least in the summer months anyway when the southern swells hit). Frankly, I found all of the Poipu area beaches to be disappointing--there are way better sandy beach options in East Kauai IMO. Expect to walk a county mile every time you leave or return to your room. The hotel is very spread out. Our room was far, far from pretty much everything (lobby, restaurants, pool, our car). If you plan on doing a fair amount of side trips & coming and going like we did, you'll probably find it annoying after a while. Big hotel=lots of people everywhere in common areas (pools, bars, restaurants). In sum, a very nice resort but just not my style.

"Great Relaxing hotel"
This is definitely a unique place to stay. The small size keeps it quaint but yet it has a very modern, posh, type of feel. Very upscale but not pretentious. Their restaurant Red Salt is great and they also have a sushi bar which we did not try. Paul, the manager of the Red Salt made sure everything was just the way we liked it and was constantly working hard himself to help out his waiters and waitresses. The hotel guest staff was super friendly and helpful. The valets were very courteous and helpful with answering questions. The pool bartender Erin was awesome as she made us our new favorite drink, the frozen coconut mojito for 3 days straight. This place is just different than the normal large scale hotels. Great, grounds, service, food, and drinks. It is by far the most relaxing place I have ever stayed at and will definitely be coming back.

Hotel is in a convenient location. Close to beach and shops. Hotel condition is good and I like that we were offered to use the hospitality room b/c we had a late check out.

"A step back in time where tranquility becomes a wa"
Everything you need is provided albeit in a more rustic environment than your typical condo stays. It felt like we were visiting grandma's house in 1970, original latches, cupboards and all. The staff was great, the grounds beautiful and we left planning our next trip back.

"Condo close to the beach"
Overall it is a decent condo, but there is not a washing machine/dryer in each condo. There is a facility on the premises that you have to use. Kind of a bummer…who wants to spend their vacation washing clothes. Also, the pool is located across a semi-main road. Not that big of a deal, but a little bit of a pain when you have small children. The pool is kind of small but there is food which has good food at a decent price and a fun slide. Also, if you have small children, the pool has a kiddy pool with a little sandy beachy area.
