Great experiencePosted Apr 16, 2014
I recently stayed at Kara's Kottages for two nights for our trips to Kalamazoo, and the best part of our trip was staying at Kara's. It was very comfortable feeling like home, beautifully decorated, and clean. The kitchen was very well stocked with all utensils and food to make breakfast. Thank you Kara, I would definitely come back.

Cross country visit to see my daughter.Posted Nov 25, 2013
Pros: Clean & tidy all around. Awesomely decorated rustic & modern.
Cons: More space. A little crowed for three.
Location: All WMU, all of downtown, & not far from all other entertainment.
Very clean, comfortable, & warm home atmosphere. Very close to WMU, downtown, & many other activities.

A gem you may not know was therePosted Jun 12, 2013
Pros: It was peaceful and quiet! No dealing with drunks/loud talking & laughing, and slamming doors. And/or kids running the halls or to the pool!
Cons: Maybe not charging for the washer and dryer use...so you don't have to have a bunch of quarters on hand.
Location: Close to downtown...lots to do. I noticed there was an Italian restaurant close by the house that you could even walk to!
I didn't know what to expect...when I read "cottages" I thought it would be like what you would see at a campground. But when I arrived I saw that it was actually a house (built in the 1800's) so I thought it was more like a bed and breakfast and since I've stayed at B&B's I thought how nice it will be to be served breakfast in the morning. The owner (Kara) happened to be there doing some yard work. She's a very nice lady and gave me a tour of the house...all except the studio which was occupied. There are three "cottages" in the house which used to be apartments that she now rents out from a day up to several months if needed. Each has its own kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom(s) and the largest one has a dining room. Although there would be no one to cook breakfast for me I really enjoyed having my own kitchen and cooking whatever I wanted! Instead of keys or a card, the door to the house and your cottage has a code that she gives you a combination for. Kara provides all the dishes, pots and pans, and breakfast items. She also provides bathroom items you may have forgotten, and even movies in the living room! There is also a washer & dryer for use and its only $1.00 for each. There are tables/chairs and a grill & fire pit outside. The cottage was very clean and I loved the attention to detail! Even though the train track is close by it does not run by in the middle of the night! I loved it there and had a wonderful, peaceful experience and can't wait to go back again!

With all the comforts of home, a well-decorated studio apartment with a bed and breakfast feel. A full kitchenette with food in the refrigerator for a very nice breakfast. Conveniently located next to Kalamazoo College.
