Excellent hotel for those seeing River KwaiPosted Jun 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Good rooms, excellent breakfast... right next to the (new) River Kwai. Two war museums are a short drive away. Unlikely to return to the area again but would stay at same hotel if I did.

beautiful pools and gardensPosted Apr 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
we extended our stay at felix hotel because it was so enjoyable to walk the gardens and sit by the river. also we loved swimming in the very clean pools. the room was large ,nice dark wood thai decor.comfortable beds with good air conditioning. the restaurants were great and the breakfast buffet was included.the staff was helpful and very hardworking. there is live music in the evening by the bar-which we enjoyed- they even have a disco ball if you want to dance. it was always empty when we went; nevertheless we made it fun.there is a very nice restaurant across the river from hotel with a band also. there is a travel agency in the hotel if you want to book day adventures to the waterfalls or elephant riding.we hired a private taxi for $100 to drive us to river kwai from bangkok . it takes about 3 hours plus..but then we took a public van back from the central bus station-busses run all the time. and it was cheap. and just fine. the driver was good and the van held about 10 people.drops you off back in main victory square, bangkok. if you have limited time in thailand you should not do river kwai bridge-not much to do except see the bridge, but we made the felix resort a holiday stay for swimming and relaxing which was perfect for us.

Good Location but need self transportPosted Apr 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
Felix River Kwai resort is at walkable distance from the historic River Kwai bridge. It has a nice dinner cruise and a floating restaurant on River Kwai. But, the initial room condition was poor with bad smell from bathroom. This was fixed very quickly once we complained to the housekeeping. But, Kanchanaburi as a whole is a quite an expensive place when compared to Koh Samui and Bangkok because of paucity to tour operators and transport options. Since it is only about two hours from Bangkok by road anyone visiting the place should rent a car as this would save lot of money in local transportation.
