Musty and old

Posted Jun 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
Needs upgrading. Carpets are old and the whole setup seems weird. Old 70s wood paneling. The front staff was not very helpful in guiding me to my room, all she said was "here is a map you can look at it". I would not recommend this.

Last minute hotel

Posted Jun 18, 2014
My husband and I stayed at the Clarion because the hotel we had orginally booked with was having water problems. After we get to the Clarion we checked in and they gave us a key to our room. The room they had put us in was already occupied with people! That was embarrassing barging into someone elses room. We told them and all they said was no one was suppose to be in that room so then they just gave us a different room. On the walk to the room I could see how trashy the hotel really is. Sure the lobby was nice looking but in the halls they had light fixture hanging from the ceiling and the floors were dirty. The room looked nice and clean however. Therefore with all the bad experiences we had there we only give it a 3.

We did not stay. The place was very dated which I could have gotten over. What I couldn't get over was the pillow on the bed was full of hair. Needless to say we were in our room less than a minute before we checked back out.

You get what you pay for.

Older class 2 hotel in convenient location. You get what you pay for, so don't expect much.

Smelly room!

Posted Jun 13, 2014
The holt stunk of smoke and partying, enough so that we almost left. The carpet in our room was really stained, and the air conditioner stunk like mold when it kicked in.

Okay to sleep, but staff needs a LOT of work

The hotel was kind of hard to find. It's not actually called Overland Park Place, there is a sign by it that says something else. Check in took a long time. Had several issues getting key cards that worked, a room that WASN'T occupied, and finally getting everything that we had asked for. Room was not very cool when AC was on full cold and full fan. Bedding was clean but not all there. At check out I mentioned to the staff how many issues I had dealt with during check in and daytime staff seemed shocked. Took a while to get a hold of the hotel manager, but the wait was worth it. She seemed blindsided by the information I gave her about the evening staff and what had happened that night. Was very appreciative of my phone call and refunded me half the cost of the room and was going to have a meeting with her staff.

Don't stay if you want towels

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Cons: Mostly everything.
The carpeting throughout the place could use a good vacuum. I got in on Thursday. Friday afternoon I come back to my room and housekeeping had been there but my bed was unmade and all my towels, washcloths, and the floor towel for stepping out of the tub gone. I leave later and come back that night and still no towels but the one I had left. I asked and was told I would have some sent up. Never happened. Saturday came and I was gone most of the day. I get back at midnight and still no towels, etc! Bed still unmade. I called the desk again and this time I got some sent up. The hotel seems very noisy with housekeeping taking loudly in the hallways, people slamming doors all day and evening. The location is good but that's about it.

Would have been rated higher except for the fact that we stayed during the remodel and the fact that the roads in Overland Park are laid out wierd so the GPS was of little help when trying to get to the hotel.

poor delivery

Hotel was dirtier than what I expected for that area of town. I.e. exterior doors are in need of repair. The pool was dirty, I picked up the trash, and the trash I left remained the entire stay. Dirty towels left hanging for entire stay on fence. Exterior doors were unlocked from the outside both night and day. I didn't feel secure with my children at night.
