Awesome hotel by the Plaza

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Picked this hotel near the Plaza for multiple reasons. It lives up to all of them. #1. Free shuttle to downtown AND back. #2. Free happy hour/snacks. #3. Free, awesome, breakfast. Room was clean and very comfortable. We will be back with our family!

Disappointing stay

Posted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the staff was very nice.
Cons: Maintenance needs to check each room better and correct areas where guests may not complain to them. Offer free wifi. Offer free valet
Location: Nothing was nearby in walking distance that we were interested in. You would have to walk thru a questionable area just for fast food, etc.
Flies in ceiling lamps,, Toilet that ran constantly until you jiggled the handle. No free wifi that I could find. No TV guide to check what was showing, only what channels were available. Every time we came and returned it cost $15 for valet yet nothing is in close walking distance. if we got our own car it still cost $10 each time! Not a good area for walking to sights. The view was overlooking the dumpsters and A/C units. The bed rolled to the middle. Definitely not worth the money we spent. They nickle and dimed us to death for room service and even when we picked it up ourselves. The prices on the menu in the were room were out of date.

I was a little worried about the outer appearance, but everything on the inside is what you expect from an embassy suites. The staff was kind and very quick. I had a problem with a tv remote and it was fixed in under 30 min. The room service was priced well and delivered quickly. The air was slightly noisy when it kicked on but I got used to it. Breakfast was amazing, and the free cocktails at night were very enjoyable.

Disappointing!!

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Too expensive given the quality and service at this hotel. When we checked in, the front desk person was extremely rude. When asked if we could change from a smoking room to a non-smoking room, they were rude saying if we didn't like the room they would be glad to cancel our reservation. Encountered another rude incident with the same person the next day. Disappointing, since all other Embassy Suites we have stayed at were great!! We will not stay at this hotel again!!

Nice decor throughout

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Awesome lobby and great valet parking.
Cons: Breakfast. Period.
Location: Nice piano bar across the street.
This was a typical Embassy Suites which is always top-notch. Price was a little hefty but, again, typical. Breakfast was a zoo with too many guests and not enough room to feed everyone or even to sit down. Some gave up and bought their own nearby. Bathroom was SO small and the tub was Super 8 quality. I kind of expect more for the $.

Pros: The complentary breakfast was very good the only part of the hotel that had a great staff working.
The room had a musty/mold smell. Our room billing was to be adjusted per the manager but front desk told me they couldn't do anything because I went thru a third party (Expedia) No more Expedia for me I had no idea that could ever happen.

Good variety for breakfast Buffett, accommodating

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Good Buffett, room setup and pool
Cons: Clean, rooms and hotel are filthy. Swap out sofa beds, this was a shame as it was among the worse.
Location: 10 minutes from plaza
Travel a lot to KC with family. Each time we stay at a different hotel for the main reason we are trying to find that one. We love being by the plaza area and even though this time we did not frequent the plaza as we came for the sporting events, the location is convenient. I would say a 10 minute walk. The rooms are setup nicely and accommodating for a family of four. Carpets need cleaned, sofa beds feel like spikes, but two sons did not complain. Ice area is filthy, the worst I have ever seen but good news we steered clear of this area. Buffett has great variety, although lines are hectic and stay seemed to be overwhelmed. I would say compared to other hotels on or close to plaza this one is worth staying at. As we have stayed at them all.

No air!

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Location
Location: Air condition.
Hotel was not in good condition, This is a very old hotel and it shows. Room were not really clean. The worst was no airconditioning. Arrived late at night and could not sleep. Checked out next day even though we were scheduled for three days.
