“Female Business Traveler”
Unfortunately, the weather was frigid and prevented me from walking the neighborhood. The Power & Light district is walking distance from the hotel. The Hotel restaurant is reasonably priced but did not have any "Catch of the Day" as featured on their menu. This historical hotel is maintained well and even though coffee is offered in the foyer every morning, if you're a tea drinker, you're out of luck unless you use room service. The rooms do not have any coffee pot or means of creating hot water. The bathroom is tiny. In order to use the toilet you need to close the door. The bathroom could use better lighting. I'm glad I don't need to shave; even applying makeup could use slightly brighter lighting. There is a swing out mirror; the one level surround brightness was sufficient. The bathroon mirror is the only wall mirror. I couldn't seem to maneuver the swing out mirror to see the back of my head when combing my hair. The bed linen and feather pillows are great. The bed is comfy. I was on the 12th floor and it was very quiet. I wasn't able to completely darken the room because of the upper wooden louver blind. The fitness room with 24 hours availability is a great feature; however, I couldn't seem to lower the temperature. The heat was too high. I didn't have any difficulty adjusting my room temperature. The pricing through Expedia is a good value for the business traveler. However, no complimentary breakfast; room service delivery 6:45 am.
“Opened in 1931”
The Hotel Phillips is old. It was built in 1929 and opened in 1931 if the desk clerk was correct. As such it has an impressive lobby and small elevators though I never had to wait long for one and the ride was speedy and smooth. I had an executive room and while I did not like the fact the bed was directly in front of the door the room was large as was the bathroom. The shower tub unit in the bathroom had a overhead shower head. There were a lot of handicap assistance bars that made the area directly under the shower head a little tite but I found the restriced water flow more of an issue than the space. I like the hotel. The staff was friendly. Parking is valet only but at $18 a night with as many in and outs as you need reasonable compared to some other places I have been. My room was comfortable and quiet. Just what I needed.
“So-So”
The Hotel restaurant seemed to be ill managed. For instance, we went to breakfast and waiting a long time we finally foraged unused silverware from surrounding tables. After a very long the waiter finally took our beverage order. An equally long wait to get the check. On leaving we found our car parked out front, though we had not ordered. Apparently they had retrieved the wrong car. On a Sunday there was a water outage in the neighborhood. Though this was no fault of the hotel, it was inconvenient. The hotel did absorb the parking costs at no charge to help amend. However, the thermastat did work in our room and it was cool. Maintenance had to be called. The Hotel is lovely, nicely located and complete with all amenties. Rooms are comfortable. The staff is courteous. The price is reasonable
“Great place to stay”
Great hotel. Within easy walking distance from the Power and Light District and the Sprint Center.
“Hotel Phillips”
Heater didn't work, water accumulates on tub.
“Great boutique hotel in a great location”
It's a great hotel with great service. The location was great, a few blocks away from the Power Light district and Sprint Center. Even though it was cooler weather, we walked to several bars and restaurants during our stay there. I would definitely stay there again.
“Beautiful hotel in the power & light district”
A comfortable bed, friendly staff, clean room , and the valet parking is worth the $. We would be thrilled to stay again.
“Nice Spot”
The hotel has been nicely redone; it combines modern convenience with historical character. Elevators are small and slow, but the rooms are reasonable and the location (to the Power & Light District and the Sprint Center) ideal.
“Great time”
I was out in KC for my son's wedding - most stayed at Hotel Phillips. The staff was accommodating and always pleasant
“Very nice stay”
Excellent hotel. Good food and bar area. Will stay again.
