Expensive for a one night stay, good location.Posted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: It's location.
Cons: How expensive it was and how clean the room was.
Location: There are great bars, theaters, and restaurants in walking distance.
It's a little pricey for what you get. The room was very nice. The city view room has a view of other buildings, unless you're on the 20th floor, you can't really see much of the whole city. The bathroom wasn't well cleaned, whoever had previously stayed, their stains on the toilet were still there. There was also not bathrobes, in the room, which usually isn't a big deal, but it was put in the description on Expedia and wasn't actually in the room. It's in a great location in downtown, it's in walking distance of some great places. However, the Holiday Inn and other hotels are right next to it, so for the price, it was probably better to go with something else.

Hotel that shows its age and that is a good thingPosted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: The people. It was immediately obvious that this staff is very well trained on both there job and customer service.
Cons: The coffee in the lobby was a pretty stout
Location: The location could not be better you are close to all the night life. Felt very safe walking back from power and lights at 3AM
Recently stayed here for a concert in downtown. I was very pleased with the service I received from all the staff members. Everyone was very friendly which is not always the case at this price range since I have a full beard and long hair. The room was very clean and the decor was just the right mix of old and new. Will be staying here again on my next trip. Also got to meet some of the band in the hotel lobby because they were staying there too.

LOVE Hotel Phillips!Posted Sep 8, 2014
I live in the Kansas City metropolitan area and stayed here for an early Birthday celebration. The General Manager, Gerald Rappaport and the staff at Hotel Phillips and 12 Baltimore made my stay better than expected! The gracious, friendly and unpretentious staff, wonderful food and drink, along with the unbelievable view all define why this is a favorite for those who stay. This is a beautiful hotel from an era gone by with renovations and updates that did preserve a lot of the original details with a little "new". Will definitely stay again and highly recommend.

DisappointedPosted Sep 3, 2014
We typically do not stay at boutique hotels, but thought we would try this location while on a recent visit to Kansas City. Upon booking this hotel, we understood the uniqueness and quirks that accompany an older facility. However, we were disappointed to experience a hotel that did not do the simple things to enhance its historic feel. The hotel halls and elevators had a musty and odd odor. Our room appeared to not have been dusted in quite some time. The bed table had white dust clumps as did the clock radio on the table. This dust issue continued on the entertainment center and windowsills. The bathroom, although reasonably clean, was very dated. We realize the hotel's age, but felt this was another area seeming to be neglected. The overall feel of the room was "tired". The hotel has a great location in the KC area...it's disappointing that the potential of what could be a very unique place seems to be missing.

Vintage can be Better!!!Posted Sep 2, 2014
This is our 2nd visit at Hotel Philips and still has the elegance of age without the show of wear.....You have to look close to see the wrinkles bit if you want a step back in time to old a KC look no further....If you want new and sleek look elsewhere.... Thanks to the front desk for the 20 th Floor Room...Great Views and the Room Staff were excellent.... Dinner and Drinks at the restaurant was great.. Great Meals and the Rum Cake was as stated by our waiter.."To Die For" Great Call!! Room Service for Breakfast was also a very good choice.. Give it a Go!!

Not all it reports to bePosted Sep 2, 2014
The hotel web site shows great rooms and an amazing restaurant. The rooms were nice, but not what was shown. The restaurant was nothing like the photo. Expedia verified a handicapped room on the 6th floor. At check-in they had no knowledge of that confirmation and no handicapped rooms or rooms close to the elevator as requested. The parking cost were $4 a night higher than posted on the web site. We stayed two nights and were gone until 4pm and our room had not been cleaned. Nice lobby and friendly staff, but not all it reported to be.

Hotel Phillips--excellentPosted Aug 16, 2014
Cons: Perhaps just an oversight in the room we had, but a luggage stand would be useful.
This is a beautiful fully-restored old hotel in downtown Kansas City; magnificent Art Deco lobby, large rooms, very comfortable and quiet. Bar not fancy, but fine. A handsome, very comfortable hotel

Nice but needs a good cleaningPosted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Beautiful historic hotel in the lobby. Room decoration was ok. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Cleaning and restaurant service.
Generally a good experience. Down falls are the room cleanliness and restaurant service. The room needed a deep cleaning. Windows blinds were very dusty. Vacuuming needes under and behind furniture. The restaurant service was very poor. Food was good.
