Hotel Phillips--excellent

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Cons: Perhaps just an oversight in the room we had, but a luggage stand would be useful.
This is a beautiful fully-restored old hotel in downtown Kansas City; magnificent Art Deco lobby, large rooms, very comfortable and quiet. Bar not fancy, but fine. A handsome, very comfortable hotel

Nice but needs a good cleaning

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Beautiful historic hotel in the lobby. Room decoration was ok. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Cleaning and restaurant service.
Generally a good experience. Down falls are the room cleanliness and restaurant service. The room needed a deep cleaning. Windows blinds were very dusty. Vacuuming needes under and behind furniture. The restaurant service was very poor. Food was good.

Nice but a few flaws

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Toilet was full of toilet paper and wouldnt flush when we checked in. Hotel fixed this immediately but makes me wonder about other house keeping like bed sheet changes. Also the TV remote didn't work.

Clean hotel-poor beds

Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: It was clean
Cons: The beds
I had requested a king size bed. Upon arrival I was given a full size bed that was uneven on one side. It was very uncomfortable.

Small boutique hotel. Old and a little dusty but staff was wonderful. Food so so but in downtown area and within walking distance good food, theatre etc.

Even After Call, Gave Away My Room

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: It is vintage. That is why I booked there.
Cons: Service and accuracy. They should be concerned and make good on what they promise. Price is way to high for weekday business.
Location: Plenty to do. Location next to Light and Power District and has easy access to interstate yet you feel like you are off the main highway
I booked through Expedia and paid for my room on line . I was running very late so I called the hotel and told them I would be late and arrive by 11:00 PM. They said no problem. They gave away my room and put me into a very small room. I voiced my displeasure and said they could not change my rate since I booked through Expedia. They gave me parking and breakfast. Totally not enough to make up for the room quality that I received vs. the one I booked. Also they closed the bar way too soon. I walked in a 11:00 am and they would not serve me. Not much vending either. If they are going to shut down that early. They used to have smoking rooms not to long ago. They still should.

Expensive, but nice

Posted Jul 23, 2014
The KC downtown market was much pricier than I could have guessed. I spent $198/night for a nice (but not _that_ nice) king room. The staff is really nice, especially room service. It's very quiet and within walking distance of everything downtown. There is no airport service--a serious draw-back.

Hotel close to shopping, restaurants, and downtown

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: TV could be easier to use.
Location: Downtown, close to business, banks, good restaurants and convenient.
Very helpful staff and clean room in a wonderful older, but modern building.

Not for the price

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Our toilet wouldn't flush ... shower wouldn't drain ... noisy hallways... hot in the room.... soft bed. It was a beautiful hotel but too expensive for the quality.

Just OK

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: The staffs
Room is small though we got an upgrade. Only bed is big (which I think only the size of the bed is an upgrade). The room is tiny that we feel it is uncomfortably to move around. Which I didn't expect for the prize that we paid. However, the staffs were nice. They took care of our needs like bringing the pack and play and blanket for the baby, and bringing us refrigerator which we requested.
