Lots of stairs, so not ideal for elderly or less mobile people. Brilliant swimming pool. Great staff, very helpful. This is the second time i have stayed and will stay here again. Was a little disappointed that they only do the buffet breakfast during peak season. Would be great if they could get the lift working again instead of using Golf carts. Over all a very good resort that i will use again. 4 out of 5.

Beautiful property!
The only downside to our trip was the pool. It was too dirty to swim in. They cleaned it while we were there and then it was ok. This resort is on a mountain, which makes for great views, but might be a tough walk for some. They offer shuttles, every half hour, so a person can come and go easily. I’d stay again!

Excellent Pool
Stayed here for a few days with some friends, everything was good, the pool and the view was excellent. We all had a great time there, although the walk to the beach and hotel was tough.

Nice Hotel, lots of stairs
Stayed here for 3 nights on top level. Has everything you need with a nice view. About a 10 min walk from the main street and 20 from the beach. All in all is a great hotel, but don't book if you don't like walking or stairs.

Never forget being charged for a broken glass, seems revenue focused. It is obvious that there is a lack of handrails from the reception area to the elevator. I fell on the last step from reception to the road. There was construction in reception.oh yes,prepare yourself the endless stairs,

Calm and comfortable hotel
To some who is looking for a calm place and beautiful scenery to relax, this is definitely a choice. To those who just want to play and eat and see hotel as a place to wash and sleep, this hotel is just too far away from the city center. I am the former one, so this hotel is excellent to me. Even the hotel inside is quiet. Each guest could enjoy a quiet time in the pool or simply walk around. The staffs are friendly and helpful to ensure you have a calm holiday.

Very quiet nice resort close to the busy beach
We had a very lovely stay at the hotel. The staff are extremely friendly. I told them I need to exchange some money on my arrival and they drove me down the hill to find the money exchange place. There is free shuttle every haif hour to the beach but you can walk as well. It's only 10-15 min walk. The room was spacious and swimming pool so nice looking over the city. The beach is less crowed than Patoon beach but very good water.

This is was below average hotel. Rooms arent great and the beds are the hard asian style. The staff aren't very helpful. I understand the hotel is up on a hill yet they only choose to use one taxi company so a lot of times there are not taxis available or you have to wait for the shuttle. Not something you want to do when you are on vacation. I also understand english is not the first language but they should employ some staff who can speak english. Overall not a horrible place but I wouldnt go back and would certainly not recommend it.

Clean hotel on the hill
Clean hotel with spacious rooms . It is not 4 star hotel, it must be 3-3,5 stars only . Located on a hill, inside of local village. Too far from the beach by feet. You must rent a bike to make easy geting beach. Hotel has transfer to the beach but it is drop off only, for come back you go your own. Most of hotel stuff peples are very friendly but not well trained. Even front desk peoples are poor English, difficult to communicate. Hotel restaurant is ok by pricing, but food is so so. Most inconvenient point about hotel is a “set up” of hotels floor. If you “lucky” has been checked in 3-4nd floor, you have to use lift first, then change from lift to very slow “cable car” and finnaly you have to use two steps for going down and going up to get you room. It’s not so easy and funny especially in hot sunny day. Some times you waiting for a cable car in hot, and getting sweet. Beds in rooms are really hard. Water power on a top floor is not strong, showering is not convenient. My final empression about hotel is “so-so”

We really enjoyed staying at this Hotel. The staff were lovely and the views were wonderful. The pool was great, and the breakfast was excellent. The only downside was the bed was a little hard for us

Very disappointed.
We were very disappointed given the price we paid for this "resort". The beds were extremely uncomfortable, unless you like sleeping on a rock. There was no hot water even though we asked for it to be fixed several times. Our shower head came off in the middle of a shower. And they would not switch our room. The staff do not speak any English. And the blow dryer caught fire while I was using it. The staff only offered to replace the blow dryer. Did not seem concerned it caught fire in my hand. The location is the best thing about this place.

Overall good hotel. Only disasvantage is the hike
Room was clean and comfortable with nice view. Staff were friendly. But many of staff didn't speak English. But they have one Russian woman working at front desk. She spoke excellent English. Everything was good except the hiking to the room. Elevator was broken for two days when we arrived. Going to the room was a real hike because all rooms are built on a hill.

Pretty Good but Too Far From Beach
The actual place is nice. Rooms were really nice with a spectacular view! Beds were a little on the hard side but that's normal for Thailand. The pool was exceptional...spacious and with an amazing view. Staff was really nice. The only downsides were the location..just to get downtown or anywhere is a minumum 10 minute walk. And the taxis in the town are minimum 200 bhat! They do have a one way shuttle service. We didn't like the restaurant much either. So-so overpriced food. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. So this place had negatives like most places but the views were amazing and made up for it.

Friendly and accommodating staff, spacious rooms, great little infinity pool with an amazing view... .. but! Definitely not a 4 star resort. More a solid 3. Lots of climbing from the resort lobby and restaurant to the furthest rooms - not sure why they put us in the absolute furthest room when the resort seemed only 20% occupied. No ice machines, and there is a charge for ice delivery to the room. Even after we accepted, they forgot to deliver ice. And there was spa like smell in the room.. but the cheap, cheap kind. Most of this was redeemed by a fun day at the infinity pool. Until we got locked out of our room. Apparently, when you request and are granted a late check out, you have to separately request that your key card not be cancelled at noon. Very confused about that one

Great stay~~ but can be improved
Stayed here for 4 days. Unfortunately we went there during haze period. It affected the seaview from our room, but still awesome! I love the friendliness of the staff, although some of them not very good in english. My wife loves their breakfast very much~~ It might have less choice than 5-star hotel, but we still felt that we had hearty breakfast everyday and boosted our energy in our later adventure. One thing that we feel disappointed is the jacuzzi tub in our room. It appeared to be dirty initially, and we saw some ants came out from the jacuzzi pump after we asked the cleaner to clean it. We felt uncomfortable and decided to give up the jacuzzi time. Overall, we still feel that the hotel still worth the price.

perfect but missing one thing
This hotel was excellent. We got a great deal on expedia - 30GBP for one night and our room had a private Jacuzzi, everything. The only downside is the location - it's high up in the treetops meaning it is far away from the beach / town / restaurants - it's a 15 to 20 minute hike to get to the main Karon strip. If you're just interested in the luxury and not the Karon strip though, then it's a tranquil get-away (but bear in mind you won't be eating anywhere but the hotel restaurant - which is also excellent).

Good hotel up hill from Karon Beach
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful and hotel is clean and well kept. Walk to the beach isn't nearly as bad as you'd anticipate being up the hill. No real complaints other than some very noisy other guests shouting at each other late at night once or twice, and a very early wake up call from reception on checkout day at 7am asking what time we were checking out even though we'd sorted it the previous day and asking if we wanted a taxi to the airport which didn't actually get booked so were woken for nothing!

Great hotel with beautiful seaview
It was our first time to Phunaka Hotel in Karon area and we were very pleased and happy about our decision to stay there. Friendly staff, spacious and clean room with a nice balcony facing Karon beach, good location (we prefer higher ground located hotels), near to the beach and shopping area/restaurants. You have to climb some stairs, yes, but we didn't mind and got used to it quickly, so it was not a real problem for us. Please consider when in need of a wheelchair, all rooms or lifts are accessible only by climbing some stairs. Nice and clean pool, amazingly maintained squash court with extra shower facilities, possibility to rent a motorbike just opposite the hotel, restaurants in short walking distance. We didn't opt for breakfast so we can't really judge the food from the restaurant but the friendly staff always lend us utensils we needed. We are already planning our next trip to exactly the very same hotel...

Lovely modern hotel with character
A fantastic stay. We don't see how our stay could have been much better. The male reception who greeted us in arrival was so welcoming and helpful despite us having booked in the hour before we arrived. The hotel had only just received our reservation but we were upgraded to a family room so we would not have to wait while a room was prepared for us. The room was lovely, clean and well laid out. The view from the balcony was spectacular, looking over the entire town of Karon with even Big Budha in the distance. The pool was lovely, clean, perfect temperature and not overwhelmed with chlorine. The pool bar was serviced by competent helpful staff. Thank you again to them it's a shame I can't remember their names. I recommend Happy hour. Don't be put off by the distance of the hotel from the main road, the map is deceptive. It's less than 10mins walk down the road, 15mins max to the beach. There is a beach drop-off at regular intervals if you don't want to walk. Julyin from the restaurant, thanks for the great advice. Would I recommend this hotel, of course. I wish I was there right now. The only negative is that the aircon could have been better as my partner preferred a cold room. I thought it was okay.

Generally , a good hotel, but all the "add ons" are marked up a great deal.laundry, scooter rental, breakfast...it all adds up to make this a rather costly alternative to what seems like more expensive hotels. I moved after 4 days to a nicer, and ultimately lower cost hotel

Irregardless of not-so-good reviews by others, we found nothing to fault with Phunaka. The service was excellent! The multi-nationality of the staff makes this hotel unique. The room cleanliness was top notch! Oh yes, the lift is very interesting and if you do not want to take the lift, you could always exercise by walking up.... it was an excellent choice for us. Location is great too! Plus point : we had a late flight and could not extend half a day as the hotel was full. They however suggested that we laze by the pool and even had shower facilities for us to freshen up! Well done Phunaka, we will be back!

A very pleasant experience in Karon, highly recommended hotel. Make sure you a rent a motorbike next door to travel around Phuket island.

Absolutely fantastic. They deserve 5 Stars. The best accomadation in Phuket The infinity pool with built in spa lounges was amazing the luxurious rooms with beautiful linen every room with amazing views over the sea luxury bathroom deep bath and separate shower with views through a sliding window door to the bedroom and sea views quality toiletries The staff were great helpful and genuinely caring. The buffet breakfast with waterfall chef ready to cook omelettes bacon and eggs ect fresh fruit cereal hot foods ect Love love love this hotel I will be back for sure the have thought of everything. The grounds are also beautifully maintained
