It’s a very good place! Karma, Prem, Sabina were helpul and kind ! The breakfast were generous and delicious! WiFi,hot water are working perfectly. As it’s name hotel thamel is in the heart of thamel. !I recommend this hotel!

Great location in Thamel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel is just in need of some maintenance & cleaning (not uncommon in Kathmandu) but for what you pay for it, it was great! Would stay here again.

Excellent room service , very peaceful place but there was a lot of noise of arguing coming from the next room, so I couldn’t sleep, overall nice hotel to stay.

Dated. Bath was badly stained & manual shower attachment had no hook on the wall. Furniture everywhere heavy & dated. I was charged $42 for one night! However, staff were quietly friendly.

Renovations, but helpful staff
I stayed for one night. The hotel was being renovated, and so several floors were off limits. There was no lift, so it was quite a climb to our rooms on the top floor. That isn't the fault of the hotel, as its off season, and so a good time to do renovations. The staff were very friendly and helpful, so that made up for it.

Fab Hotel in Heart of Thamel
Had a beautiful stay here before and after trek to Everest BC......Staff are amazing.....rooms are superbly comfy and clean.......i had a gorgeous bathroom with bath......Room 202 is at the end of the corrudor great room.

Great Location & Great Staff
We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Thamel during our 25 days in Nepal. The staff was excellent always caring for our every need. The breakfast and the rooms were basic which is all we required for our stay. The location of the hotel was wonderful as it is in the Thamel touristy area, but also far enough off the main road for it to be super loud or chaotic. It was a peaceful refuge in the midst of chaos that surrounds it. You are only one street over from the main shopping street and eating street as well as you have some other main tourist attractions of Kathmandu within walking distance.

My stay at the hotel was awesome.The staffs were very friendly. So i extended my stay. Everything is great including the Wifi, food, and the environment. Even after the earthquake, the staffs still had a smile on their faces whilst greeting us. The rooms are big and very well maintained.

Was there in the aftermath of the big earthquake. Staff behaved very well and helped a lot considering the chaotic situarion. Even regular breakfast was provided. Rooms need more attention.

Sunny Balcony and Great Location
The View from the balcony was good. The room was good sized , bedsheets and towels were clean. Good Hot water and free, wi fi was great, comfortable bed. The Pepper Steak was Great. The staff was superb . The Trekking package they arranged was good.

Nice hotel in gud location
The hotel is very conveniently located in the main tourist area which is a big plus for all travellers. rooms are nice, well maintained and with all the modern amenities. The staff are very courteous and have helped me whenever i needed some information regarding tourist spots. Food is excellent..breakfast is wholesome and restaurant service is good..i liked the cheese rum stake. The hotel has generator backup which is necessary coz of the power cuts. I was very happy with my stay and would definately stay there again the next time i visit kathmandu.

Well located hotel, just off the main shopping area. Laneway gave enough privacy and quiet to get away from the Thamel streets. Helpful staff, especially with booking flights to Lukla. Breakfast was quite good, and rooms were clean. Obviously, remember this is Nepal, so do not expect European standards. For example, hot water was hit or miss. Would recommend this hotel to most travellers, and consider it value for money. Hotel has a generator, so power blackouts.

Nice quiet hotel.
We stayed 2 nights before our trek started. Very quiet hotel, room was clean and staff pleasant and helpful. In fact some 3 years ago we were also here for a few days! So we have now returned after our trek for a few days more. Decent breakfast too! Thank you Hotel Thamel!

The was no room! but staff were great
Unfortunatly, haveign booked online with hotels.com, when we arrived, the hotel didnt have a room for us. They did immediatly arraneg for us to go to another hotel only a few minutes walk away. But this hotel was not to the standard of Hotel Thamel, we had a terrible nights sleep. Sayign this, the staff greeted us in teh morngin and took us back to the origional hotel for breakfast and arranged a free transfer to the airport. They have also promised a complimentary night on my return in a few weeks. My advise is check with hotel if you book last minute as I did.

Even after paying all the money through Hotels.com, i was not given room on the first day. I was kept in a dirty place in some other hotel and only on day2, i was brought to Thamel hotel!! What more can I say? Thamell hotel is OK but!!

Power Issues
When the power was cut (all the time in Kathmandu) they picked and chhsed when they ran the generater-while the hotel next always had their generator running when power was cut.

Good hotel by budget standards
My expectations are tempered by the realisation that this is a budget hotel and I should not expect five or four star facilites or service. They gave us a clean room, clean sheets, clean towels, clean bathroom and air conditioning that worked. We had a pleasant stay despite a few glitches which were readily sorted out. The location is great -- right in the middle of Thamel, yet in a small side lane. The food in the restaurant was good. The staff were very friendly and courteous and often went the extra mile.

Nice hotel near main tourist market area. Rooms are good. hotel ambience is good. staff is also attentive. Provided free airport pick up. Ample breakfast varieties available. food is ok but very much costly. staff is helping to arrange local sight seeing tours. If needs vehicle for local tours or further travelling it is better to contanct any travel agent office situated nearby. you will get the reasonable rate. If booked vehicle with hotel they added their commission in normal rates. bargaining and vehicle choice is available with travel agent.

pleasant surprise
I would highly recommend this hotel in the center of everything in Kathmandu.. The inner courtyard was pleasant to sit in away from the noise of the city. If you are elderly or have health problems choose a lower floor. no elevator. Quality food. Breakfast was various and changed daily. reasonable day trips can be arranged at the hotel. Highly recommend and a bargain

Super friendly; good location
Was very happy to stay at the Hotel Thamel. Staff is very friendly (although pretty much everyone you meet on the street in Kathmandu is so). Rooms are spacious and equipped with A/C. However you have to make a choice when it comes to the rooms--either you can get a tub or you can get a balcony. I went for the tub, as I wanted to soak in the hot water after a week long trek. Oh yes, they have hot water. But the electricity periodically goes out. Given the price range of other options in the Thamel district, I wouldn't say Hotel Thamel is exactly the winner for quality/price. However it is definitely a decent place to stay (if you care about comfort). And oh, maybe not the best place to make friends with other backpackers--I would say the guests staying here are a little bit older and a little more reserved.

Hotel quality/condition is alright, old, room is ok, not as clean as other. I've seen worst. Great and quiet location, even though just couple door down you will hit the tourist busy street. I wish the hotel is more up to date and more clean, having carpet on the hall way is not a good idea because it does smell like cigarette.

placent stay at Hotel Thamel
Overall stay was comfortable. Electrical power cuts is an inconvenience, but the Hotel management is helpless as Kathmandu is in chronis power shortage.DG set helps a bit; however the solar panels ensure hot water all the time. Rooms are clean;staff quite helpful and courteous;public in general are friendly. Indian vegetarian food is reasonably priced (the North Indian variety) and of reasonable quality.Taxis are made available on request.

Flight trouble arrived one day late. E-mail contact airport pickup as well Although it is a Thamel area, it is a place that entered a side street so even at night it is quiet. Room with balcony was open feeling, smoking was also possible. The staff is helpful and friendly. I had a pleasant day everyday. Restaurants, laundry, doorman, reception have staffs who can speak a little Japanese. Especially the driver 's Mr.D was a reliable person in safe driving. In addition, I want to stay at this hotel when staying in Kathmandu. Thank you so much for all your help.
