This is a hotel going downhill fast.

Posted Jul 28, 2015
Cons: I don't know where to start - frayed carpets, peeling paint throughout, etc..
Location: For Hawaii, this is rather an isolated location. Other than the beach and the adjacent park, that's it.
Deferred maintenance is out of hand. No bar or evening dining facilities. No airport transportation facilities. The employees were all nice and accomodating, but they are getting no corporate support. While I feel sorry for the employees, there is no way I could recommend this hotel to a friend.

Avoid this Hotel Until After Renovations

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Nice staff.
Cons: It really shouldn't be open during renovations and, given the condition of the property, the resort fee is an insult.
Location: It is a 5 minute walk from Lydgate Beach Park, and is in a good central location for exploring the North and South ends of the island.
I am a budget traveller who rarely stays at "better" hotels and don't expect an excessively fancy room or obsequious staff. I also understand that you get what you pay for. However I have never stayed in a hotel in worse shape than this one. The rooms and main hotel buildings are quite literally falling apart. So many things that would have been simple to fix have been ignored. We found, frayed, torn and dirty carpets, peeling paint and wall coverings, torn screens, a murky koi pond, bathroom fixtures hanging off walls, abandoned partially furnished rooms with stripped beds and broken lamps clearly that were visible from the hotel grounds due to torn or missing draperies. The place is undergoing renovations (as we discovered when we awoke to find our cottage completely surrounded by work crews and orange construction fencing) which is great, but it is NOT a pleasant place to stay in the mean-time. They really shouldn't be accepting guests until the property is updated and repaired. It's that far gone. The hotel staff is nice but they are clearly a skeleton crew who are doing their best under trying circumstances. There are other properties nearby that are near the water, or a quick drive from the beach park, that are in much better shape. I would avoid this one until renovations are complete.

Pros: the beach the free breakfast
Cons: everything
Pictures of this resort must have been taken in its previous life...it is suppose to be renovated soon and it needs it. Staff was absolutely wonderful...AND WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE THE STAY AS ENJOYABLE AS POSSIBLE WITH WHAT THEY HAD TO OFFER.

Run down and dismal

Posted Jul 14, 2015
I grew up here. This used to be a really nice place. It's plain to see they are broke and can't afford a gardener, new carpet or beds that don't sag in the middle. Was promised a king bed but got 2 sagging doubles. TV was hard to work, play station controller obviously broken. Made me so sad to see the place so run down. The saving grace is the hotel staff, filled with Aloha Spirit.

Hotel is ok, but has seen better days. DO NOT like the extra 18.75 they charge per night on top of Expedia fees.
