Nice hotel close to the beach

Posted Jan 30, 2015
Pros: Rooms have excellent views of the ocean. Great for walking challenged guests; level grass landscaping and adjacent to a shopping centre.
Cons: This older hotel well maintained but found the room light was a little inadequate.
Location: Located adjacent to the Coconut shopping centre and other hotels.
The staff was able to provide us a ground floor room with a handicap washroom. Stairs for second and third floors are problematic for physically challenged.

Traffic problems out of the hotel.

Posted Jan 28, 2015
Cons: See above regarding the difficulty getting out of the hotel.
The overall stay at the hotel was fine. However, I would not book again with the Islander because of the traffic out into the highway. The exit out onto the highway needs a traffic light. As it is now, turning right out into the highway is problematic.

Pros: location.
Cons: Lobby coffee for more than 1 hour and start earlier.
Location: easy access to shopping, dining, grocery store - appreciated the microwave and refrigerator.!!!!
Comfortable room with ocean view. would like to see lobby coffee offered earlier in the morning for those of us who like to walk the beach in the morning.

Nice hotel close to the beach

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: Staff was great and room was very comfortable.
Cons: Parking seemed to be a big issue. Hot tub closed too early in the evening.
Approx. 15 minute drive from airport on the East Side - good location. Paid a little extra for the oceanfront view and it was totally worth it. Had some great luck with parking but there are not enough spaces for this hotel. Great restaurant within walking distance.

Good value, a shade on the high side price wise.

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Cons: Door locking systems (keys) need updating. Cards keep having to be reprogrammed.
Location: Good location for that area, good access to local shopping and food.
Clean rooms, good staff service, and a good location. However, be prepared to rent a car if you are staying for more than a day or two.

Extra Charges

Posted Jan 14, 2015
Pros: The distance to town and places to visit. Also the view and being right on the beach.
Cons: No extra charges and more parking.
Location: Excellent location.
I had stayed at the Aston prior and was very surprised how many extra charges were attached this time. Almost $150 more.

Affordable and right amount of luxury

Posted Jan 8, 2015
Pros: Great comfort, location, nice coffee in room, have free dvd rentals if the weather gets bad!
Cons: free mai tai for each nights stay!
Location: stock up on macadamias at longs in the coconut marketplace, rent good hybrid bikes at Boss Frogs (~7 min walk), hike sleeping giant (bike there!)
Great sound of the ocean and bit of a view from the rooms. Bottom floor is great because you can walk right out onto the nicely cared for grounds (the grass is like soft carpet) to access the pool, poolside bar, beach, etc. Not over the top with decor, but if you crave the sound of the ocean and a really great mai-tai (better than 95% that you will have on the island) by the beach, then this is it! We walked everywhere from here, more convenient than anyplace else we stayed on the island with good local places to eat like TCs in coconut marketplace 2 mins walk.

Clean, quiet, at the beach!

IOB is a smaller hotel, which is in its favor. Great location in Kapaa, near several good restaurants. Easy to get to the rest of the island. Clean, quiet hotel w great ocean views, lovely staff.
