November 2013 Week VisitPosted Nov 28, 2013
Pros: Clean, quiet, and reasonably priced.
Cons: Pool made for Midgets. Can't believe you charge for use of computer to print boarding passes. Get rid of the $15/day fee for amenities, really?
Location: One of the may golf courses is located with 2 miles of hotel. Best golf is at Princeville, just 15 miles or so north.
We recently returned from our 1 week stay at the Aston Islander on The Beach. Prior to staying at the facility I read through the reviews from later 2012 and found them to have an overall good rating for cleanliness, quality, and price. I have now completed my stay and found the facility to be the same, very clean, of acceptable quality, and a good price. The facility is located in Kapa'a on the east shore. There is no real dining at the facility (there is a oyster bar and seafood deli I did not try) but close by, Kapa'a offers some nice dining (the Bull Shed [steak/seafood], Bobby V [pizza], Country Kitchen [great breakfast], and the Olympic Café [good bar]) and modest shopping. The Beach is quiet and the surf a bit rough but does offer a great lounging point. For the price, this facility offers a very good value. Make a stop at the Costco on your way in and pickup some fresh fruit and small meal items and beverages which can be kept in the small fridge. There is also a small microwave in the rooms as well. Having stayed at every kind of facility from flea bags in remote Alaska to 5 star resorts on Puerto Rico, I would say this Aston offers one of the more reasonably priced stays for the quality. There are some give and takes to be aware of though; Kapa'a would not have been my first choice for location. Po'ipu on the south shore offers great snorkeling at Brennecki's beach. Also, for the five star, you might consider Princeville and the St. Regis.

Love the island. The locals are awesome.Posted Nov 26, 2013
I am totally about natural beauty! I really enjoyed the river raft tour to the north shore. We went in to shallow caves momentarily, snorkeled with sea turtles.. Very fun. Hikes and beaches are amazing. The hotel was great. Not necessarily what I expected from watching fantasy island but definitely low key and beautiful. The hotel beaches are not for kids to play in. Lava rock is too dangerous. You'll have to hike down shore a little or drive to a local beach. I wish I could have stayed longer. I will be back. Scott.

Nice hotel, great value, beachfrontPosted Nov 25, 2013
Pros: Oceanfront, air conditioning, nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff.
Location: Right on the ocean, walk to shops and diners at the Coconut Marketplace. Short drive to Kapaa town and Lihue. Many great activities on Kauai.
We enjoyed our stay at the Aston Islander on the beach very much. The rooms are not fancy, but very comfortable and perfect for us. The oceanfront rooms cannot be beat. We opted to stay here rather than our time share which had no air conditioning and was not on the beach.

Excellent location to head North or SouthPosted Nov 20, 2013
Pros: Location, Clean room
Cons: Beach chairs. It appears once the chairs are broken at the pool, they are transitioned to the beach. Straps missing off chairs.
Location: We rarely did anything in town. usually breakfast or dinner. We tend to head North to the North Shore for the day. Great location for the price!
Upon arrival, we upgraded to an oceanview and were very pleased with the room, view, staff. The internet was not working the first day, but we spoke to the front desk and by the next morning it worked perfectly. Breakfast is minimal from 8-9am only and only took part in this one time. Great location as we tend to head North or South depending on activities or daily plans. We love staying in Kapaa and will be back again. Room was clean, comfortable bed and location was perfect for us. The price can't be beat. You'll have to do more driving, but we don't mind since we are up early (time change) and start heading North or South towards activities, beaches, snorkeling, etc.

Nice hotel right on the beach!Posted Nov 15, 2013
All the staff was VERY nice to my girlfriend and I. The rooms have a cute, island feel to them. Theres no room service or restaurant inside the hotel but there's Trees restaurant right next door. This place is quieter as compared to other resorts- minus the roosters of course! FYI: Kauai has roosters/chickens every where! I also liked the DVD/game rental kiosk in the lobby, but the best thing is that they have a small tiki bar by the pool :) PS-parking is free, but there's a resort fee of $15 per day Mahalo!

Great place our 3rd time at this property.Posted Nov 14, 2013
The key is to book an ocen front room. Open your patio door and let the oceans soothing noise brring peace to you. Kauai is incredible. Its not a go go go place. More of a relax relax relax place. Dont be in a hurry. Enjoy the island, the people, and get into the spirit of aloha. Unlike some we had no trouble finding parking. On kauai you do not want a large rental car. In fact you want the smallest one you can get. Cracked me up to read reviews complaining about the ocean being to loud. The property itself is fantastic. Beautiful. The grounds are cleaned daily. The rooms are clean, theres some dirty grout around the tub. Otherwise the room is a super value. Its not a 5 star property, and at the low price its a steal. Aloha.

Spacious, comfortable relaxing hotelPosted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: We liked the serenity, the friendly and efficient staff, the gardens and grounds and the spaciousness of the resort.
Cons: While we enjoyed the light breakfast each day, we were surprised that there was no on site restaurant / cafe.
Location: A car is a must to travel each side of the island to see the beaches, gardens, the canyon, waterfalls and lighthouse. We loved Hanelei and Princevill.
We were delighted to stay 5 nights at Aston Islander on the Beach. We upgraded to an Ocean Front room and that really made our stay quite wonderful. The view from our room and balcony was superb and it was great to look at and hear the waves all day and night. We were surprised at how quiet and relaxing the resort was.....and so spacious. The pool area was inviting also very inviting and we enjoyed the spa.
