“Perfect for a family of 6”

This resort was perfect for us. All 6 of us were very comfortable. There was plenty of room and an excellent kitchen with everything we needed. We really enjoyed the easy access to many BBQ grills. The staff were excellent. The location was great, we were in the middle of everything we wanted to do. We had a fabulous vacation and highly recommend the Pono Kai.

“I'll go back to the Pono Kai again.”

Everything was perfect except for the mattress. It was ok. Everything was clean and looked like it had recently been remodeled. Kitchen was fully equipped. Clean and beautiful. Having been to the Pono Kai 3 times in the last 30 years, I was impressed by how nice it still is and the location is great for seeing the entire island in a week.

“Great stay in Kauai”

I booked a two bedroom oceanfront condo through Expedia for my family of four and I was very pleased with the room and the Pono Kai. The grounds are very well maintained and there are all kinds of activities to do which my 8 year old loved. The bike/walking path behind the hotel was one of my favorite things. It is 4.6 miles and it beautiful scenery the whole way. The two bedroom oceanfront room we were in had tons of space and everything you needed i.e. sand chairs, boogie boards, sand toys. The kitchen was slightly dated but living room, dining room and master bedroom were all recently updated. I all the rooms rented through CRH are all individually owned, so they are all diffferent. There is no maid service during your stay. They clean it before you get there and there are supplies to clean things during if you need. Some units at the Pono Kai had air conditioning and some didn't, ours did not which is pretty common on Kauai because even if ours would of had air conditioning not sure I would of used it. There is a constant 10-20 mph breeze and it never felt hot except for when we first got there and the place was completely closed up. Overall everyone was very satified in my family and didn't want to leave.

“Very good condo for the price”

This condo was much more than i expected for the amount that i payed. The condo i stayed at had a kitchen with all suplies like silverware and pots and pans. It had a fridge, oven, toaster, and microwave. The beach next to it was great only draw back was that there was not any tables for you to sit, no problem sit on the sand or grass. The condo offers many games like horse shoes, tennis, and shufffle board. They also have a good size pool and jacuzzi. The only thing i wished they did was hold your luggage for you the day you leave. Overalli recomend this establishment.

“Pono Kai good choice”

We wanted a room with a full kitchen so we could make most of our meals. We got the room through CRH (Continental Resorts Hawaii) which rents privately owned units. The room was very accommodating and spacious. The view of the ocean from our unit was awesome. I often just sat on the balcony and listened to the ocean waves. Every morning we had two natural alarm clocks, the sun and the chickens. The housekeeper was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed and even stocked the room with lots of books and brochures about the island. Look forward to going back.

“Great vacation”

We had a great time here. Staff was very friendly, and location central to all parts of the island. Shopping, beach, parks, and bike paths all within 10 minute or less radius of hotel.

“Pono Kai Resort, Great, but private room horrible.”

The privately owned room needs to be cleaner and any dishes or silverware we used needed to be washed before use. Also the check-in procedure was very awkward. We had to call three times throughout the day to determine when the room would be ready. Then they had to call us back to give us the unit number and key code to the lock box. Then when all that was done, we opened the lockbox to find only what looked like a key fob, but no key. So we had to call them back again to "get the key". But as it turned out, this key fob looking thing in the lock box was the key. I then had to figure out how to use it. Finally I figured it out, but it was anything but obvious. A little bit of up-front instructions would have gone a long ways here.

“Pono Kai”

The room was nice with a beautiful view. All appliances worked well, and the grounds were well maintained. My only gripe was with the bed. Absolutely terrible. The mattress was lumpy/soft,and the bedside tables were flush with the bed such that the table top actually hung into the bed by a 1/2 inch. As a result as I tossed and turned due to the lousy mattress, I kept hitting my head against the tabletop. I finally gave up and slept on the floor for the last 4 days.

“Resort is great but this particular room needs updating”

For us the resort was at a great location, centrally located to everythign on the island. The resort has great amenitites. we stayed in a privately owned condo in the resort, we could use any of the amenities they resort had to offer. The servie in the resort was great. They booked all teh activities we wanted to do for us. The room itself was a little outdated. The furniture defintely need updating. The TV was so small we had to move close to us to wathc (probably a 19 inch). The rrom didn;t have a tv at all. The living room furniture was definitely old. The sofa bed need to be changed, it was lumpy and it was showing some rips on it. The patio lounger was also broken so we couldn't use it. The kitchen had great amenities in it, expect the stove need replacing, not all the burner would work at the same time or if you used the oven. Overall with some changes in furniture and kitchen stove this particular condo it would be a great place. When I return to Kaui agin I would definitely stay at this resort but ask for a different one, unless the furniture had been changed.

“Not Impressed at ALL.”

Great location, but the service was below my expectations. We stayed for 10 nights, but no one cleaned our rooms. When we asked for extra towels, sheets, shampoo, soap they responded "ALL I CAN DO IS TO CALL THE MAINATENCE THAT'S ALL I CAN DO. Of course noone bother to showed up.
