Lovely quiet swimming beach.

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: Beach, people
Cons: Noisey A/C
Location: Kalapaki Joe's: Very loud and young after 8:30.
Quiet, except for loud A/C. Steps to beach. Less than 10 minutes from airport. Friendly staff.

Overall, Very Pleased!

The Hotel Staff was a 6 out of 5, Amazing.. Hawaii hotels/resorts don't usually have central AC, this had a window unit, the only downfall. However, it seems to be like that everywhere on this island. There was a nice koi pond on the way to the 2nd floor which was nice and many areas to lounge outside. Great location. Would recommend.

Okay for the price

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: The snacks and the equipment that was available
Cons: Better circulation. Room 3 was very small. It would have been better without the small better. To small for 3people
Location: Location was convient.
The room we had was very very small and very little circulation since they had very small windows. I think if the room was on a higher level it might be better. The staff was nice and they put out lots of nice little snacks. The cookies were delicous.

Ist night in Kauai!

Posted May 14, 2014
Pros: It is colorful, the grounds are gorgeous, and very convenient!
We flew into Lihue late. The hotel staff had an envelope with our name on it taped to the office door with our room key inside. We put our things in the room and went for a late night walk and a cocktail. When we came back we went to bed. We slept quite well! In the morning we checked out the beautiful grounds, checked out with the charming lady in the office, and continued on our vacation! Our experience with the Garden Island Inn could not have been nicer or more convenient! Mahalo!

OK hotel close to beach, restaurants, shopping

Posted May 4, 2014
Pros: The hotel was central to the Lihue area and close to the beach, shopping and restaurants.
Cons: The main living area was fairly clean but some of the window sills, ledges, etc. could have been cleaner.
Location: The location was central to shopping, several good restaurants and a beach. It also was easy to get to the airport and other parts of the island.
Overall our stay was fine. We didn't spend much time in our room and so being fairly small was not a problem.

Great stay in Lihue

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Easy access, comfortable chill place to stay, great value! Giant koi fish. Clean.
Cons: Firmer mattresses.
We had a single room. Great funky small motel, they have everything you need! Shower and bathroom clean and homey. With microwave, small fridge, sink, and counter, you could eat reasonably well between restaurant visits. In the lobby, there are free movies, beach necessities, and fresh coffee. Very nice people, the next time I come to Kauai I may stay here. My only reservations: the bed was softer than I prefer, and I got bit by Mosquitos. Walk across the street to a small beach where there are surf lessons, SUP rentals, and swimming. Lots of restaurants, you could stay without a car if you just wanted to chill. EASY from the airport, omg it's minutes!

Friendly Staff

Best part of our experience was the helpful and friendly staff. The hotel has beach going supplies that they loaned us..snorkels, fins, towels etc. The building is older and has some general dirt/gunk build-up which I was disappointed with. Otherwise, we had a very nice stay.

OK place to lay your head.

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: Once morning arrived, we enjoyed breakfast on the local beach right across the road.
Cons: A good cleaning.
Location: Beach, restaurants and shopping. And walking through the fabulous grounds of the Marriott.
We just wanted to sleep after 2 long flights and arriving late evening. We were surprised to have a king bed. It was a little hard to figure out how to access the parking lot in the dark when you don't know the area. The bed was nice but between the truck traffic and the constantly noisey roosters, we didn't have a good sleep.

Garden Island Inn

Posted Mar 13, 2014
Cons: The bathroom could have a regular door instead of a louvered one and it was strange having the shower wall open into the room.
Location: Close to a couple of good restaurants and across from a park and the water.
This older "renovated" motel was a real find for the money. Even though it was older, the owners had painted and spruced up the room with bright paintings and cheery walls and pleasant bedcoverings, etc. The beds were comfortable and it was nice having a kitchenette in the room. The garden outside the rooms was delightful. The rolls, coffee, and juice available in the morning were good. The staff was terrific. We only stayed 1 night here after we arrived from the mainland, but I would recommend this motel.

Little jewel

We flew into Lihue after an exhausting 17 hour journey and needed someplace to stay for one night. This place was perfect. Friendly innkeeper directed us across the street to the Bamboo Restaurant (we could walk there!). Great, inexpensive meal of saimin then back to the room to crash. Room was spotless, with wifi, towels, nice firm bed - everything you could want. Highly recommended.
