The outside gardens were very nice. The hotel feels a little more like a motel. Small small room with stained shower towels. You can barley open the room door with the bed in the room. I was very surprised for the amount that we paid. I would say it is way overpriced.

Staff was super nice; very accommodating. The place was old and not updated, but we felt safe. Great location. I would stay there again. Thank you

Schnell vom Flughafen zu erreichen, wahnsinnig nettes Team die sich gleich um Ersatz für meinen Rundflug kümmerten. Perfekte Ausgangslage um Kauai zu entdecken.

The spirit of Aloha is lives here.

Pros: Each of the staff were very caring and warm. The hotel itself had great gardens, lots of koi ponds, and an overall sense of bright colors and design.
Cons: One of the louvre windows did not work, but upon reporting it, they said maintenance would be right on it.
Location: Fantastic spot adjacent to shops and restaurants. Only 10 minutes from the airport.
From the moment we checked in, the staff did all they could to accommodate us! From free movie rentals, to borrowing snorkeling equipment, we never had to sign it out, just bring it back when done: very trusting.

Wonderful staff, great location

Location: Lihue is central to everything. An hour to Waimea Canyon to the West and Hanalei Bay to the North Shore. Highly recommend Captain Napali boat tour.
Just spent a week in Lihue at the Garden Island Hotel and it was wonderful. Great location across the street from Kalapaki beach, a small, sandy uncrowded beach with good swimming. Hotel is within close walking distance( less than a quarter mile0 of many stores and a dozen restaurants. Staff is very kind and helpful and much more personal than a big chain hotel or resort. They had all the beach equipment you need, towels, chairs, masks, snorkels and fins as well as boogie boards so you don't need to bring a thing for the beach. I would highly recommend it.

An excellent laid back experience. A plus staff. Free beach chairs, snorkels and fins, beach towels, sun screen, bug spray, coolers, snacks. An old hotel but everything worked and it was clean.

Just what we needed!

The staff at the Garden Island Inn was amazing. They helped us with our bags, lent us snorkel equipment for the week, and were super helpful and friendly. The hotel had a great location - only 2 miles from the airport, yet across the street from excellent restaurants, shopping, and a park with a beach. It was also fun to watch the cruise ships leave port. The Inn was decorated with original paintings - very cool. The cheeseburger across the street at the Kalapaki Beach Hut was one of the best I've ever had. This was a great place to stage a vacation full of adventure at an unbelievable Island!

Cute spot, close to airport and beach

We really enjoyed our one night stay. We chose this spot because our flight came in late and we didn't want to drive 30 minutes to our resort hotel. I'd call it more like a B&B. The staff/owners were awesome and had our room set up with an great treat basket and in the morning they had free pastries in the office. My kids loved the "heart" of The Garden Inn and yelled it out each time we passed it on our drive during the week. Plus, it's literally across the street from one of the island's best beaches and restaurants.

funky hotel with hawaiian charm.

Cons: a few more of in room eating amenities would be helpful. Staff, however, provided them on request.
Location: we used the Inn as a place to use for a few days before leaving the island. Will consider in the future upon arrival before moving to our condo
artistic decorations and tropical gardens complete with a real waterfall make this a great place to spend a few days in the Garden Isle.
