Pros: Close to the beach. Nice pool area with spa. Friendly staff.
Location: Tunnels Beach for snorkeling. Took the helicopter tour which was amazing.
Beautiful view of the ocean. Steven, the concierge, was helpful and very friendly. I would recommend this place to my friends. I loved Thumper, the cat, greeting us.

Nice intimate hotel but priceyPosted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Nice layout--lovely pool, lawn and bar area adjacent to the beach.
Cons: Carpeting and down bedding was musty-smelling. Consider using other materials more appropriate to climate and conditions.
Lovely setting and low rise architecture make for a more intimate feel than the huge highrise hotels. Rooms are small but are well sound-proofed with black-out drapes, so you can get a good sleep if you are jet-lagged. Nice marble bath. The hotel is beachfront, although the usable beach itself is small. However, it is a very short walk to the fabulous public Poipu beach. Our room here was expensive compared to similar or better resorts we stayed at on the north side of Kauai and other islands.

Romantic seclusionPosted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: The beachfront cottages are really incredible. They are about 75ft from the water.
Cons: Housekeeping is only every third day. There is only one restaurant on site. Otherwise it is 15 minutes to Hanalei.
Location: Travel time to the south is one hour or more and most activities are there. The roads at night can be dangerous. .
This hotel is on the far end of North shore. The views are breathtaking and the beaches are not crowded.

Good locationPosted Jul 16, 2014
Size of room/decoration is great. Pool is ok/ a bit close from the road and they were doing some work. Service in room is only every 3 days. We were a bit disappointed with what they called ocean vue, i believe you need to book Ocean front to have no vis a vis and have a true vue on the ocean. Overall good but not amazing.

Lovely quiet stay in a peaceful settingPosted Jul 2, 2014
This place is warm, homey, inviting, and ever so peaceful and comfortable. Great K bed. Lovely grounds and landscaping. We were greeted and welcomed in an inviting way by all staff. The setting is incredible and unique near the "end of the road" near Tunnels and Ke'e Beaches - surrounded by greenery ever so beautiful. One should know that while it is advertised as beachfront, the beach is not a swming beach. The ocean view room that we had was well worth it - in comparison with the pricier ocean front and premium ocean front rooms. I'd return in a heartbeat!

What an amazing place!Posted Jul 1, 2014
Splurge and get the Premium Oceanfront room and you will not be disappointed. Steps from the ocean. Let the ocean surf sounds lull into total relaxation. Enjoy the sunrise with a cup of coffee on your patio. What you dream of in a true Hawaiian experience. Highly recommended. I traveled to many magical places and this is place is right at the top of the list.

Friendly staff & beautiful propertyPosted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: The resort is in a quiet area right on the beach. The staff are super friendly and helpful.
Location: The location is outside the hustle and bustle of the town of Hanalei. So, you get the convenience of being so close to the town without being in it.
Upon arriving at the resort, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful and is right on the beach so you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves. The surrounding area is quiet. Our room was fantastic... spacious, clean, relaxing... you could see the beach. I booked Hanalei Colony Resort for only half of our stay on Kauai. I wished I had booked out entire stay there. This is where I will be staying anytime I come back to visit Kauai.

Great place for peaceful solitudePosted May 21, 2014
Cons: Hotel noise when people are walking around
This resort is in a great location. Close to the wonderful little town of Hanalei with it's great restaurants, nice snorkeling beaches and the otherworldly Na Pali coast. It's a joy just to stroll around the grounds of the resort. Only reason not excellent is because I have nothing else to compare it to.

Great value and very close to the beach!!!Posted May 20, 2014
My wife and I enjoyed the stay at HCR. The staff was very accommodating and the views were incredible. At night we would open all the windows and sleep to the sounds of the ocean. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

Nice spacious hotel with views of the beach.Posted May 16, 2014
This is a beautiful setting with nice comfortable suites. The grounds are well laid out with a grassy lawn for the children to play in. It is right on a sand beach with sounds of the waves crashing. It's a good location for families with children. Hanalei Bay is close enough for general shopping and several nice restaurants and plenty of other shopping. Great beaches all around. Terrific hiking. The only downside was the lact of sound barrier between the floors. If you have young children who run around be kind enough to ask for a ground floor suite, and if your quiet, being on the second floor should do the trick. It is a great hotel and we will be back!!
