“Good basic hotel, with slight issues.”
Hotel was clean basic and staff were helpful and friendly. But if you are a guest staying on the first floor be prepared to be rudely awakened by loud plumbing. It might be best to stay on the second floor. It is behind a shipping yard so you will also hear the large cruise boats and forklifts. There aren't any restaurants walking distance, but if you are are hoping to explore the Island and sleep inexpensively this is perfect!
“Nice stay”
Good breakfast, nice garden, large room but no a/c. Good deal
“Best Buy for a Quiet Comfortable Leisurely Stay”
Great friendly Services. Very clean and well-ventilated rooms without odor of cleaning products. Super comfortable bed and pillows. Clean fresh towels everyday with no detergent or bleach smell. Well-functioning refrigerator and microwave oven. Fixture and furniture a bit dated but clean and working - country style charm. Cool and clean hardwood floor. Lovely patio with soothing green yard view. Free tea, coffe, and juice all day. On-site coin laundry facility. Plenty of drawers and closet space. The only drawbacks are the slow internet speed and a few mosquitoes that may have flown in during room cleaning depite of screened windows and patio door. Bring mosquito incense (sold in some Asian household goods stores).
“Kauai Inn - Stay like a local.”
This place is very quaint, laid back and comfortable. The only issue we had was trying to find it in the dark. Their website provides directions, but it is still quite difficult to actually find the place. It is located just in back of the cruise ship dock (Nawiliwili Harbor), Your GPS will not find it if you plug the address in, so don't try. The staff was very helpful in guiding us to the Inn after we gave up searching on our own. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom facilities are dated and the plumbing needs to be modernized. There isn't a place to put your toilettries except for the toilet tank, but we survived. If things like this bother you, then go somewhere else. If you like a local old-time feel, then you'll enjoy staying there.
“Historic Hawiian Hospitality”
The Kauai Inn is an old-fashioned plantation style resort that was remodeled to modern standards while maintaining its charm. Naturally finished wooden floors and railings add to the atmosphere. Jalousie windows provide cross-ventilation. Although the rooms have individual A/C units, with the natural breezes and the ceiling fan, I didn't need to use it. The rooms also have a refrigerator and microwave. There's a continental breakfast with muffins, bagels, bread, toast and fruit every morning. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the neighborhood's quiet except for the roosters crowing in the morning (Kauai is famous for its feral chickens). The bed was slightly soft, but adequate. The Kauai Inn is not a beach resort, but is a convenient base for exploring the island.
“A class act!”
One needs an updated gps to even find the place but once you weave your way through an idustrial port area, your in for a real treat! An awsome friendly staff, and pretty, well- groomed grounds will make you feel right at home. A rentle car is a must as the hotel is a hike from the nearest town. I would go back there in a second. Worth the money.
“Great, Friendly Hotel”
My wife and I enjoyed a 4 night stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, and helped in every way possible. The breakfast was simple but more than adequate, with plenty of fresh fruit. The rooms were tastefully decorated, and very clean...it helped to have a fridge and microwave available. My only complaint was that we stayed on the side of the hotel closest to Niumalu Beach Park, where there was a lot of activity and loud noise late at night. My recommendation is that you request a room in the 300 building, which is further away. We would definately return!
“Nice, friendly, would go back again!”
5-10 min drive from Lihue airport. Located off highway, not close to any grocery or shopping center, but it is quiet at night. Room is well equited (wireless internet, fridge, microwave, window AC), clean, the Lanai is nice. (we were 'greeted' by one of the owner's lovely cat the first morning when I went to our Lanai, the cat was fluffy, bathed, and not afraind of being petted by stranger, I think the cat may serve as a execllent ambassador for this inn) Cons: the only thing I would suggest is the breakfast time, it starts at 8:15am, which is somewhat late for travelers who like to start their day trip earlier or have a early fly to catch. Would be nice to start at 7-7:30am
“No need for BIG name hotels..check out Kauai Inn”
Usually when my wife and I work on Kauai HI we stay the night somewhere in Poipu but this time we stayed somewhere different. The Kauai Inn was recommend to us by a friend. Love the location because it's so convenient to many restaurants, shops and our favorite Nawiliwili Bay. Everyone who works there is so helpful friendly and definitely has the ALOHA spirit! What we enjoyed the most staying at the Kauai Inn were the four legged greeters that they have on property, a senior dog name Max and 2 cats TC and Jezebel. The ambiance of Kauai Inn is serene, relaxing and definitely made you feel like you're on vacation. Our room at Kauai Inn was immaculately clean better than the place we usually stay at in Poipu! The best part of our over night trip is that Kauai Inn offers a complimentary continental breakfast for people on the go like us!
“Maui will be back!”
We spent two wonderful nights there, convenient location, plenty of parking, free continental breakfast every morning, quiet neighborhood, room was quiet couldn't hear neighbors. Pleasant staff. We will be back
