Basic MOTELPosted Aug 20, 2014
Dated and very basic. Room with AC is a must. Very close to Lihue airport. Friendly staff and the free morning coffee was nice.

Perfect!Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: I liked everything about this hotel. I especially loved the gecko that stayed in the room with us too ;) I loved the staff. They were so genuine!
Cons: The construction across the street was kind of annoying in the early morning but the roosters woke us up anyway!
Location: Kauai Brewing Company is around the corner. Kalapaki Beach is two miles away (good food, beach, surfers..), Poi'pu is close (lots of great beaches)
I was nervous at first because of the surrounding area, but once we got settled into our room, it was perfect! The rooms are small and a tight fit (maybe difficult for families with kids) but it was perfect for my husband and I. We got a room with no a/c and it felt so good to just have the fresh kauai air constantly fill our room. The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming. You wake up to roosters in the morning very early, but we are early risers anyway. It was great location because you are right in Lihue and right in the middle of the North and West shores. We absolutely loved our stay here. Very affordable. We were hardly even in our room anyway (and if you spend more time in your hotel than at a beach or hiking, you are doing Kauai all wrong)! Thank you so much Kauai Palms Hotel!!!! We miss every second of our stay with you!!!!!

Excellent value, but you get what you pay forPosted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: Price, location.
We booked this place because it was cheap, and it did not disappoint in that regard. The place itself was super basic, which we expected, but ended up being pretty unpleasant because of the noise. We had to keep the windows open due to the heat (should have sprung for the AC!) and were awoken by a rooster crowing at 5 in the morning, followed by someone's alarm clock going off every 15 minutes starting at 5:30 am. I suppose this is not explicitly the hotels fault, but it made it a pretty unpleasant experience. We ended up just getting up because we couldn't sleep- so I can't really recommend this place. But it was super cheap and pretty clean, so if that's all you're looking for hopefully you don't get a rooster outside your window.

Great Staff - Acceptable PlacePosted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: Nice staff, close to the airport, decent price. Basic amenities provided (refrigerator, AC, parking).
Cons: A bit more signage from the road so it would be clear where to go (at night) would help.
Location: Easy drive from the Airport. And they (at the hotel) provided a nice, simple, local map with local suggestions of places to go (eat) and things to do
The staff was great: my flight had been delayed by two hours and they stayed up late to await my check in. Then when I got there (restaurants were closed at 11 pm), I was thirsty and they helped me get a soft drink even though I did not have change on me (they lent me a tad to help). Quite nice folks. This hotel served as an incoming point for me (I went on the next day to a seaside rental). I would be glad to use it as an incoming or outgoing point in the future.

Close to airportPosted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: It was close to airport. Clean, quite and for us was charming and quint.
Cons: Not there long enough to make a comment.
Location: This hotel was off main road, but was quite and close to airport.
We found the staff to be very kind and helpful. The room we had was small, but then we were only spending the night. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was for only one person at a time, but was clean and the shower was nice.

100$ beats 160$Posted Jul 28, 2014
Really friendly and helpful manager. Sparse room and small. But Hawaii is expensive. On the mainland this would be 40$. But I only wanted a room and shower. Not luxury. One night stay until I got my car rental and campsite. Great view of the mountains on the second floor. Great view!

Friendly hotel close to everything in LihuePosted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: Easy to find, true Hawaiian experience, great on a budget, close to bars, cafes and restaurants but very quiet too,
Cons: You cant improve on a place like this without losing some of its character and charm.
Location: Just off the main street of the capital Lihue, a short walk from several good bars, breakfast joints and diners, and close to the airport too.
We stayed here for a week in June 2014. If you are looking for luxury in Kauai this is probably not for you, but if you want to stay somewhere that feels like true Kauai, then this is it. Its a plantation style building and you will get a very friendly welcome from Mokihana and her staff, a basic but clean and tidy room, plenty of parking, and be in easy walking distance to some great local bars and eateries, all for a very good price. The room we had was perfectly good, not the biggest we've ever been in but very clean, with a fridge, tv, air con unit and all the usual things that you expect like cups etc. Coffee and tea is provided in the mornings in the communal area next to reception. What really stands out for us was the true Hawaiian welcome we got from Mokihana on our arrival, she was so nice and helpful all the way through our stay. We'll certainly stay here if we visit Kauai again.

Adequate HotelPosted Jun 30, 2014
Disappointing; pictures is a 100% better than the real thing. Very tiny; should be a 2 star. The only thing good is that it is clean and the staff very friendly.

Very oldPosted Jun 27, 2014
Pros: The staff
Cons: a bit of painting, wash the wall in the bathroom please.
Location: At the time of our stay, there was a construction on the other side of the street so not very appealing. I'll not take a chance to walk nearby at nig
We booked it in advance not knowing wich hotel we will have. We stayed 2 night in two different chambers. The rooms are small, really, and not really sound proof but suprizingly it was quiet. Its look like an old motel and it is an old motel. A lot of hand trace on the walls and dust on the fan but clean enough to endure. Yes it was affordable but for 20 boxe more you will have something really better and closer to the water. I'll not return.
