It was wonderful

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: I like where I was at. I was closer to the ocean so the sound of the wave was awesome at night.
Cons: Parking was awful"I came late at night and there was no parking space close to my room. And I felt since I have ocean front. I should have a parking p
I like the place but the parking was bad news. But I let them know about it.i like where I was at.

Pros: Mid Kapaa beach location.
Front desk staff quite rude and excessively curt explaning terms and conditions. I realize that Hawaii being a tourist destination has an assortment of fees and taxes, but this person really needs skills training on delivering unpleasant news on checkin. Did not note her name.

Low cost hotel

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: Price
The hotel is beginning a remodel of the lobby building. They plan on adding a restaurant and some additional updating of the facility. The beach is nice but there are warning signs of undercurrents. There is a nice cove area for snorkeling and fishing if you walk 400 yards to the south. They have two pools in the grass courtyard area, a BBQ and patio area. Rooms are clean with newer TVs and wifi. They do have a continental breakfast and a couple of computers in the lobby. This hotel is "U shaped" dated probably to the 60s-70s. Similar to a large motel type facility. We were interested in seeing the sights of the island so it was great for us. Mostly all we did was sleep there. If you want to relax and lounge around at your hotel this probably isn't the best bet. The nearest bar is at a neighboring hotel. It is walking distance to a small mall, "The Coconut Market Place" for shopping and some decent restaurants. I do recommend Eggberts, Hula Girl Bar and Grill for Hawaiian pancakes for breakfast, their prices and food were all very good.

Nice hotel close to the beach

Posted Jan 14, 2015
Pros: Close to beach
Cons: Lobby could be approved.
Location: The hotel is walking distance to a Safeway, long drugs and small chopping center. Plus there are plenty of other beaches, which are nicer, nearby.
The hotel staff for the most part was friendly, but didn't go out of their way to be friendly. There was always a line at the front desk to get assistance because they often only had one person at the front desk. The. Lobby area is in serious need of renovation. The rest of the hotel has been renovated and the rooms are comfy, and simply appointed. Plus's are that its close to the beach, free wi-fi, free parking and complimentary coffee, tea and doughts each morning. I really wished it had a spa at the pool area and an outdoor bar of some sort, so that we would not need to walk to the neighboring hotels to get a drink.

On the beach, I mean on the beach. New owners are building a beachfront restaurant/club. Egbert's next door was great. Mariachi's near the beach in Lihu'e had best ceviche since I moved to New England from Cali.

Very satisfied

Posted Jan 9, 2015
Stayed here for 2 nights on my weekend get-a-way. Didn't know what to expect when I saw that most hotels in the area were $200+ per night but I didn't want to spend that much and took a chance with Kauai Shores. Absolutely loved it. Great location, great staff, clean, comfortable, no nonsense. It's not a really luxurious resort/spa but it's a great place to stay while you spend your days out and about in Kauai.

nice hotel in a convenient area

Posted Jan 9, 2015
Pros: it is off the main road, and very quiet. It has nice pools and beach access. Lots of pool furniture and nice porches at each room.
Cons: More comfortable chairs (2) in the room add a full length mirror. Better dresser to put clothes in. Remodel the lobby.
Location: Liked having the shops so close! Also enjoyed the farmers market.Liked staying in Kapaa because it made the distance to the north and south easy trips
Enjoyed our stay. The staff were easily accessible pleasant and helpful. The maids did a wonderful job. Enjoyed the easy pace of the island and so many sights to see.

Excellent Kauai Value!

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: The beach & the bed! Great little slice of Kauai Beach and comfy bed. We even saw whales on 1/6/15 from the grounds.
Cons: Bathroom was small with little counter space. Standard tub/shower...nothing fancy. Lobby is dated but were told it was going to be renovated soon.
Location: Great central location. Plenty of beach & waterfall exploring within minutes of the facility. Good food is minutes away by foot or car.
We booked Kauai Shores for 11 days. Rooms are recently renovated and the grounds are beautiful. There is a great beach footsteps from your door! Kauai Shores is centrally located on the island and is a great starting point to head north to see the rugged beauty or head south to Wimea Canyon. Make sure you eat at Lemon Grass on Sat or Sun evening and hear Mark sing some Kauai tunes. If your looking for a snack, Tiki Tacos is 5 minutes up the road or grab some Poke @ Kileawa Fish Market next door. There are several great & inexpensive places to eat at Coconut Market (under renovation) and there is also some good shopping there too. On the west side grab a tasty beer and good food at the Kauai Island Brewery & Grill. Just south in Lihue you have to hit Dukes for a great view and food. Spend the $$ and take a helicopter tour. Hike to some of the hidden beaches and drive or hike to some of the falls. If the whales are in season, be sure to take a whale tour. We were able to see whales jumping off the beach of Kauai Shores on 1/6/15 but from a boat you get a much better view.

Close to the beach! Friendly service and clean!

Posted Jan 6, 2015
The reception/breakfast area is pretty run down but the rooms are newly renovated and fabulous. Beachfront access is so great and the location means easy access to the north and south coasts. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The vibe of the patrons was younger backpackers, young families, etc. Good people!
