“Fabulous boutique hotel in a stunning location”

This hotel has just opened and I can't fault the quality of the rooms/public areas/pool/food/ service/water sports provision and location (on Poipu beach). Small shopping village with a good selection of stores 10 minute stroll away! All the staff were very friendly and efficient providing an extremely persoanlised service-nothing was too much trouble- they went the extra mile with a big smile!

“The perfect place to stay on Poipu Beach”

Koa Kea is a wonderful place to stay – we will definitely go back. It’s a small boutique hotel so you don’t feel like you have to trek 3 miles to find the beach – great restaurant inside – and the room has the MOST AMAZING bed! Also, a small mall is located within walking distance for all those little essentials you may have forgotten. We loved it!

“Would totally go back!”

The bed was so plush and soft and we got a little giddy with how nice it was to plop into it and feel like you were on a cloud, especially after a day of learning to surf. They offer a lot of things such as surf lessons, snorkel gear, etc. and the little beach in front is perfect for snorkeling and just hanging out (not as crowded as the more family oriented beaches right next door). If you like snorkeling, you can pick up cheap gear and water shoes at Walmart. Something that was really appreciated is that though you can extend your stay for a couple of hours for a fee if you have a late flight (if the room is not previously booked), they also have a visitor's lounge so that you can leave your luggage and then when you're ready, you can go to the lounge to shower before you head off for your flight, free of charge.

“Romantic and Relaxing Resort”

My husband and I stayed at Koa Kea for seven nights, and we were extremely pleased with our choice of hotels. Koa Kea is small but sophisticated and charming. Our room was beautiful as were the property grounds, pool, and beach, which is a one- minute- walk from the hotel rooms. The resort is especially romantic at night when lit up with many tiki torches. We ate breakfast at the hotel's restaurant every morning. Besides a full breakfast menu, there is a buffet which offers a variety of bread, fresh tropical fruit, and cereal. Everything we tried was tasty and fresh. The drinks from the poolside bar were also delicious. In addition, Koa Kea is conveniently located, and we tried other good restaurants nearby and were able to buy snacks for our room. The best part of staying at Koa Kea was the service. From the restaurant, housekeeping, the front desk, valet parking, and maintenance to the manager, everyone was friendly, kind, and outstanding at their jobs. My husband and I felt very pampered. We also greatly appreciated being able to use the hotel's hospitality room. Checkout is at noon, but our return flight didn't leave until 10 p.m. We were able to store our bags at the hotel and then use the hospitality room to take a shower and change our clothes before going to the airport. We would definitely recommend Koa Kea, and we can't wait to go back ourselves.

“The Kauai Honeymoon Hotel”

This hotel was wonderful for our honeymoon! Very relaxing atmosphere (fit well with the vibe of Kauai). We had a partial Ocean View facing into the pool area with a great view of both the grounds as well as the ocean and arrived to a bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. Here's the breakdown... PROS... - Beautiful and quiet grounds - Quiet beach - Extremely clean rooms - Very well appointed rooms - Comfy beds (although can be warm due to a thick down pillow topper on the mattress) - Attentive and friendly staff - Great location (~1hr 45 mins to Kee Beach, 20 mins to Lihue airport) - Nice beginner snorkeling - BIG hot tub - Large dual headed showers - Didn't hear a rooster once - Very new and a great style throughout - Reasonable beach rentals - Best possible weather in all of Hawaii CONS - Rocky beach (which helps keep it quiet) - Fairly busy surrounding beaches - All surrounding beaches do have rocks in the water at some point - Very expensive room service - Very expensive pool bar All in all a great hotel that both my wife and I raved about the entire time we were there and would go back to in a heartbeat. Our only real qualms were the fact that the room service food was just too expensive despite the knowledge you're at a boutique hotel.

“Great Honeymoon!”

After reading all the reviews we decided to pick the Koa Kea and we were not disappointed. The location was right off the beach as advertised with a great pool and lawn area just in front of the ocean. The staff was overly helpful when we first arrived. They also helped us out with great tips, directions, and advise. The hotel was easy to get to with close and nice shopping centers nearby. It was very low key at night, which was nice for relaxing in the hot tub without crazy kids running around jumping in the pool. The bed was very soft and comfortable with a great ocean view from the balcony. The room was smaller than we thought but had a huge shower in the giant bathroom. It also had an in-room safe which was very handy to store extra cash. As we were checking out the staff asked if we had a late flight which we did, the staff then offered a departure room, which is a room you can use for an hour or so to shower and clean up after your daily activities. This was extremely convenient. We would recommend this hotel to any couple looking for a luxury vacation!

“Cozy luxury at a price”

We spent 7 nights here in March'10 and I would return in a heartbeat. I give it high grades as a romantic getaway, so if you have noisy kids please stay someplace else! It is sandwiched between two large resorts that cater more to families, so the place has a cozy atmosphere (though it being off-season and fairly empty probably helped). The staff was exceptionally polite and eager to please. The valet parking had its usual advantages and disadvantages but they get your car in about 30 seconds so how much can you complain? The ocean-view room was absolutely superb, though I can't say the view of the ocean was expansive -- if you need that opt for the much pricier oceanfront room. However I found looking out over the pool, palm trees, tiki torches, etc. in addition to the ocean was even better! The only downside to the feather-top bed was not wanting to get out of it in the morning. Very indulgent. We didn't eat at the restaurant which seemed a bit too pricey, especially given the numerous nearby places, but the folks dining there looked content. The bar was also pricey but the Mai Tais were excellent! I usually love to complain but this place makes it very difficult to do so.

“Koa Kea - wonderful - would recommend to others!”

We loved this hotel. The staff greated us as we drove up, walked us around the grounds, brought our luggage to the room. Beautiful lobby, but you will spend all your time and the pool or beach. Great for couples, because there werent a lot of kids (I didnt see any - yeh!). Romantic grounds to stroll thru at night. Good restaurant on site plus you can walk to many others. Super good beach access, good snorkeling and seal watching.

“Recommended place to stay”

Went in November so was more quiet. Hotel was smaller and felt less than the other places we have stayed. However, ocen view was miss leading for some rooms. The hotel was very helpful to move us from the west building to the east building where there was a much more direct view. During busier times of the years, that may not be possible so suggest you request the rooms that face the sunsets. Beyond that, everything was excellent.
