The property was NOT what was described and the pictures did NOT depict the Unit that we stayed in. Our unit was very dated, paint peeling off cabinets, no bedspread, rusty shower curtain, moldy chairs to name a few. The biggest issue was that the unit did not have WIFI, even though it was stated several times in the listing that it was available. This made it very difficult for me to work. When I attempted to resolve the issue with Travelocity, they pointed the finger at Outrigger, who pointed back at Travelocity. I am very disappointed with Travelocitys response (or lack of) in trying to resolve this issue. Outrigger knows this Unit does NOT have wifi, or cable television as Travelocity markets.

Lae Nani overall was great. We loved being on the beach. The bid downside was the dirty dishes in the cupboard. Our unit needs a new dishwasher. Most of the glasses had hard chunks of food on them. Other than that we really loved our stay at lae Nani. Beautiful property.

When we checked in, we were told we had to check in at another facility, Waipouli Beach Resort, because the owner of the unit we reserved decided to occupy it. The alternate unit was exceptional and would recommend it instead of Lea Nani, which I understand does not have air conditioning. While the Waipouli Resort was an upgrade, it would have been nice to get a notice ahead of time of this change. If owners rent out their units, they should not be allowed to just change their mind to make the unit unavailable at the last minute.

Overall it was awesome. But two Big simple things to fix though: the fold-out sofa bed is absolutely horrible. The mattress, the Springs everything. Maybe if they could just throw a simple cheap foam mattress on there, it would make a big difference. And the only other thing is the sheets on the main bad are not fitted and are very very hard. Nice fitted soft sheets are super cheap

The condition of this property is terrible: broken sofa in the living room, rusty lamps, dirty carpet, broken kitchen cabinets, no wifi, no landry(you'll need to pay for landromat on the property). That was worst condo we've ever been to. There is a pretty beach in front, but be ready to be confronted by angry drunk locals who like to come there and throw fishing poles just where your kids are swimming. Because hawaii are theirs, so they can do anything. Be ready to be told "get the f**k out of hawaii" Horrible experience. I think the management has to think about safety of the customers more.

41 year old facility !
The resort had that beautiful old Hawaiian feeling, but it's old. The view from the patio is gorgeous, nice swimming pool, beach is small, rocks and ocean water to rough to swim in. New kitchen if you want to cook, the rest of the condo is old and need some serious renovation, particularly the master bedroom. Closet door hanging loose and, ceiling fan never replaced, showing dark spots and dust. Hinges on plantation shutters rusted, rust spots on either side of toilet. The Kapaa area of Kauai is congested with traffic and noisy, the Poipu beach area is highly recommended, better hotels and nicer beaches. We still love Hawaii !!!

Aloha - We really appreciate your feedback, and we're sorry to hear that your experience was less than stellar. The property is an older property with a warm Hawaiian Charm and very serene. Not sure what unit you were in. Lae Nani has a great swim-able beach however, the east and north shore surf during the winter is rough and summer months are perfect while south (Poipu) is rough during the summer and great during the winter. Again, mahalo for your comments. We always appreciate the opportunity to hear from guests. Mahalo nui loa

Aloha, Thank you for your time and review. The staff and I are happy you enjoyed your stay with us. When booking into a vacation club rental there is a mandatory check-out cleaning fee unlike Hotel type Resorts. We do not have daily maid service so no cleaning fees are added to your nightly rate keeping your nightly rate down and offering you and independent stay in our top of the line full service condo's. I am sorry that your travel company did not advise you before hand of the check out cleaning fee. We look forward to your return. mahalo nui loa & A hui hou'

Fourth visit to this facility. And 4th time we had to change rooms due to some type of noise problem. This time they decided to due a major overhaul of a room near ours. I heard a woman complaining outside they had awakened her baby. The old management would at least offer to move your luggage for you to a better room location, this one did not.

Lae Nani property is just a lovely setting. Sadly our condo was not. The decor in the room was nice and tropical however it smelled of mold and then we found mold on the dinning room chairs and could not use them. One dinning room chair was broken. The dishwasher was broken and the DVD player was broken which sucked since we rented a movie.

We really enjoyed our short stay at Lae Nani. The unit was huge with full kitchen and all the kitchen stuff you need. Beautiful ocean view and a lovely sandy beach. Also a little cove for the kiddos. Nice place but not necessarily best for value
We booked Lae Nani last minute just before Christmas as we decided to take a trip to Kauai. Positives: + Nice view of the ocean, close to beach + Nice grounds, well maintained and pleasant looking + Clean rooms and comfortable Negatives: - Bath tub was looking a bit dirty. It wasn't nice and white, but had yellow/brown stains. Not sure if it's just dirty or stained from a lot of use. Regardless, didn't look nice. - No internet available. - We booked an ocean front room but I wouldn't call our room ocean front as you still had to walk a good 70 meters to get to the beach. If anything, it's probably an ocean view - I expected ocean front to be right on the ocean. We paid around $240 per night (inc. taxes), plus $90 cleaning fee which ends up to be around $270/night (we booked 3 nights). In my opinion, not necessarily the best value but it's a nice place. Overall, would rate 3.5 stars but Hotel.com doesn't allow half stars.

Conviniently located close to shopping area.
Got a condo with ocean view and reasonably furnished kitchen as promised. Rooms are maintained very well. Internet was not available in the both the condos we stayed in the one week we stayed. One of them had a modem but the hotel staff could not get the security code from the condo owner. Cleaning is done only after someone checks out from the condo for which nan additional amount was charged which was of course mentioned in Expedia's hotel information. Very quite location, no A/C only fans bur in the winter AC is not required. We were able to make our own breakfast and some minimum cooking which was very useful. Overall enjoyed the stay.

Beautiful Location
We like staying here as it makes for convenient access to both the North Shore and Waimea side of of the Island. The specific location has quiet grounds. The green areas are a great place for kids to run around, so it can be a bit noisy during the day. Doesn't anyone ask their kids to keep their voices down anymore? There is access to the ocean as well as a pool. However, we found in our unit we had to pay extra for maid service (wait..what?).

The location is great, conditions no so good.
We rented one apartment for 6 people, but in the evening we discovered that the sofa-bed frame wasn't holding, most of the springs gone or broken. Because was late and our time in Kauai very short we didn't want to spend time complaining and dealing with it (the reception is in another location) so we moved the mattress (thin and old) and two of us slept on the floor. I wonder how they had prepared the bed without checking the condition of it! Also, the second day the fridge started making a very loud noise, so the two people in the living room had a very hard time sleeping. For fairness, the 4 in the rooms were comfortable. Evidently the apartments are not very well kept, but the amenities and the beach are great and safe for the kids and the location convenient.

Best spot on the planet!
The Outrigger has comfortable, upscale accommodations right on the beach. This beach is special: a small manmade lagoon for the little ones makes for an easy spot for families. You will find a large flat shelf of rocks which creates another natural lagoon area. This was our second visit. This time, the lagoon fed a little river that made its way out to sea. Quite an interesting spot which entertained our family for hours. A rare Hawaiian monk seal came ashore and rested right near the lagoon while we were there. Volunteers sectioned off a spot for her to rest. It was really a treat to see her and it didn't take away from our play area at the beach. The grounds of the Outrigger are lovely with tropical plants everywhere and lots of shade. The pool is roomy and with a beautiful view of the ocean. We have stayed in both a 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom and found them both to be quite nice. The 1 bedroom worked well for our family, having the kids sleep on a pullout sofa. I don't think adults would have been happy on the pullout though. A lovely breeze is present all the time so AC is not needed or desired. I felt that the kitchen could have been cleaner on this visit so I'm hopeful housekeeping will improve that. I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Outrigger. We will visit as much as we can afford it!

Amazing first time to Kauai
We thoroughly enjoyed staying w/ the Outrigger on our first trip to Kauai. The grounds were impecable, the staff were wonderful, so enjoyed meeting and getting to know them expecially "John" our grounds security. He was so knowledgeable of the Island and so full of wonderful stories. . . . The one thing that really disappointed me was our room. The wallpaper was hanging off the walls in the extra bath, the main bath was not kept clean, there was mold on the shower curtain, the ceiling & walls, the vanity cabinet & drawers were very old and not clean. The kitchen countertop was cracked and broken and not kept clean, I went out and bought some counter cleaner to use prior to fixing anything to eat. The kitchen drawers were also broken out. I realize these condos are privately owned and rented out for vacationers, so it is up to them to keep them clean and renovated. But for the price we were charged, I'm disappointed in what we were provided. I came w/ two other couples and their condos were wonderful, clean and adequately supplied w/ housing items, so I pray our next visit to the Outrigger our experience will be better w/ property owners that take pride in their rental property.

We visited last year and it was our Best Vacation ever. This year not so good. We asked for Garden View to be closer to the garden only to realize we got the only unit (416) without also a view of the ocean, our mistake. We like the Lae Nani location but not our room this time. The unit being on the ground floor had a mildew smell when we first entered. When my wife contacted the front office about it, she was told there was nothing that she could do about it and was somewhat rude. We opened all the windows and let it air out and that helped a little. During our stay a Monk Seal was visiting daily and laying on the beach. It was neat to watch how the volunteers and security staff protect these endangered animals. Last year, we went to the state park on the west side and drove to the lookout but could not see the view for the fog. Someone mentioned this is the best view on the entire island. This year the wind cooperated and we were able to view and the sight was awesome.

Nice Grounds but Beach view on the decline.
We have stayed at the LaNani on several occasions always a pleasant experience. We had not been there in 3 or 4 years and of course changes happen. The most noticeable is the addition of the pool fencing which blocks most of the ocean view from the ground floor of building 2. It is understandable that this was a necessary addition since the construction of the condos across the street. We were also disappointed that so many people from outside are allowed to access the beach directly through the La Nani. Even though there is security , it does not seem to be enforced. Also the small gate from the La Nani to the public access does no good without a lock. Understanding that Hawaii beaches are all public it still is disturbing that beachgoers from outside the condos are allowed to play at will on the grounds owned and maintained by the La Nani. We really love the La Nani but really would like to see some changes. Guaranteed room reservation, buildings 1 and 2 are to close to the public access trail and only a few feet from bedroom windows. Always on the alert because it sounds like someone is right in the room with you. We do like it there and appreciate the staff working with us to get a ground floor condo but would have to think seriously about staying if we had to stay in building 1 or 2 again.

FEELS LIKE HOME-DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
This was our second stay at Lae Nani, so that speaks for itself. The condo this time, however was not as comfy as the one we had prior, so each condo has its own pros and cons. We had an oceanfront/ground floor one, but because of the plants and way it faced the ocean, we got virtually no breeze and it faced the setting sun, so... Our hall toilet would not flush (we discovered that in the middle of the first night), but as soon as I notified the office the next morning, it was promptly fixed. Also, one of the front desk staff (JLynn) was so helpful in our trying to purchase a day trip to Oahu. She took extra time and patience that was not in her job description. Very sweet! Peaceful location, lovely and large pool, a small area of the beach seemed to be safe for kids ( I don't have any but saw other's in). This condo complex is just across a parking area from the "Coconut Grove" shopping area. ABC store close. Also, just up the highway there's grocery stores, Long's drugs and anything else you might want. We love staying in Kapaa. Not a big touristy feel. Kapaa is about 15min. from Lihue and about 30 minutes from Poipu. Nothing is too far. Don't hesitate to book at Lae Nani. Clean, nice location, and friendly.

Stayed in 425. Overall very nice. Grounds are beautiful and very peaceful. Security is a visible presence especially when it starts to get dark. Tide pool fun for children and adults alike. The only bad thing was the king sized bed in the master bedroom. Extremely uncomfortable with a huge depression on one side of the mattress. I slept in the middle close to my husband and tried not to fall in the hole all night. It also squeaked every time you moved. The mattress really needs to be replaced.

The Lae Nani was an add on to our 1 week stay on the North Shore. We could not have made a better pick! We were traveling with our daughter's family including a 3 &.8 year old. We were upgraded to a "ocean view" room and were literally 2 units away from the pool. The beach was just a lovely lawned area down from the pool with it's own walled in kid area and perfect body surfing spot adjacent. What fun for a 60 something who hasn't been body surfing this century. Lots of happy families enjoying the property. Also convenient to stores and restaurants. These Units may show a little wear but make you feel at home right away - if your home happened to be on a beautiful slice of Paradise.

Although the grounds of the Lae Nani are beautifully kept and the beach, pool and free parking are great, the condo unit we stayed in (436) is in serious need of cleaning and updating. The walls and furniture are beat up and dirty and the carpets and bedroom drapes are filthy. The ceiling fans in the condo are woefully inadequate and although there was a floor fan provided, it ~ along with the toaster, coffee maker and two of the stove burners ~ didn't work. Our understanding is that these condo units are privately owned and no doubt they are not all in such a disappointing state, but we wouldn't stay there again.

It was very quiet, which was nice. The grounds were beautiful and well-kept. The unit we were in needed some updating as the paint was peeling from the doors. The unit had recently been painted, or smelled like it, so maybe they are making an attempt to keep it up. As it was our first trip to Kauai, it would have been nice to have a concierge to assist with planning, but we managed and had a wonderful stay. It is a great place if you would like peace and quiet with no extras or activities/restaurants on site.

Outrigger Lae Nani perfect for our family reunion
Twelve family members stayed at the Lae Nani Resort for periods ranging from one week up to three weeks. We were generally very happy with the beautiful location right by the beach, the convenient pool and the excellent layout of the suites. We were able to request and be given a ground floor room for our elderly members although there were a few stairs to our door, which turned out to be navigable. All rooms were spacious, the showers were easy to use and had plenty of water. When we arrived, we were impressed by the cleanliness of the suites. However, daily upkeep was not really up to standard. We were not happy with the lack of care in vacuuming, polishing of glass table tops, refilling of used up shampoo, etc., although all staff members were very pleasant. This was our only problem, and we did not attempt to get better service, so others may have better luck. We still would stay at this resort again if we have the opportunity, and recommend it to others.

First Trip to Kauai
Our stay at Lea Nani was terrific! The gardens and grounds are a big plus. Everything was manicured and just a beautiful place to come back to after a day out enjoying the island. The gardener even trimmed the flowers by our room and gave us cuttings for a vase in our room, then left fesh cut bananas on our lanai! While we loved the setting, our initial room was less than great. We had booked an "ocean view" one bedroom condo, our room, 214, had basically a view of the pool with a very limited view of the ocean. The room was very outdated and needed some deep cleaning. After two nights, we were there 8 nights, I inquired about moving to a different room. The office staff were very helpful and arranged for us to move as soon as something became open on our 4th day. We made the short move to #312 and it made all the difference in our stay at Lae Nani. It was so much nicer, updated, fantastic kitchen and bedroom, baths, living area, and had a very nice view of the beach, ocean and mountains! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kauai and would book a room at Lae Nani again. Just make sure you ask about the room. Building #3 and #5 look to have the best views.
