This is a one bedroom, 2 bath unit within a condominium resort/complex. There is an onsite management office that administrates the rentals and manages the resort property. However, this particular unit is managed by an offsite property management company hired by the unit owner. Here are the problems we found in this unit. We stayed in this resort 12 years ago so I remember what it was like. Although this unit looked clean, it is definitely outdated. I don't think anything was updated in the last 12 years. The wall switches for the light and fan in the dinning didn't work. I had to climb up on a chair to pull the 1" long pull string to turn on the light and the fan. The lanai door locks didn't work. There was mold on the side of the refrigerator. I wouldn't put anything edible in the toaster. Most of the pillows smelled like body odor. I pulled out the pillow cases from 2 pillows and I saw why, but didn't know how many people's body fluids were absorbed by these pillows. Since the onsite management office was not responsible for this unit, we couldn't get new pillows. We rolled up some new towels for pillows. I sent a email to the property manager about these issues, I haven't received a reply yet. We love the Princeville area. We like the resort and the staff. I hope this is an isolated incident. I plan to return in a couple years but will book directly with the onsite management office; they would have switched our unit.

Better than expected!Posted May 31, 2013
Pros: Room amenities... Dishwasher and washer/dryer are great when traveling with kids!
Location: Amazing property, ocean or garden view!
When you see hotel photos online, you often expect things to look different in real life, but The Cliffs was every bit as nice! Comfortable, clean rooms equipped with all you need for your stay. Concierge service that was more than happy to help you get whatever else you could want. Amazing programs right on site plus all kinds of recreation spaces and equipment. Beautiful grounds and views, close to town,... An unbelievable destination at a reasonable price!

well-equippedPosted Apr 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very clean, equipped with everything you might need for a Kauai vacation was available--plus a few nice freebies, such as a lunch bag in the fridge packed with water and snacks. Walls not well soundproofed, but quiet at night. A little hard to find the first time. Staff very helpful and obliging. We stayed in 2109 (different condo units managed by different companies or individuals).

Helpful staff, quiet and cleanPosted Apr 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay at the cliffs. The condo was clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful and informed. The amenities were also nice. The pool was chilly though, which was OK because you are in Hawaii for the beaches not the pool. It was great having a kitchen because eating out in Kauai can be costly. Picnic tables and BBQ's for use on the grounds was also a plus. The location was quiet, which suited us well.

The Cliffs Unit 3204Posted Jun 12, 2012
Location: The location is wonderful. Chairs and a hammock overlook the cliffs and ocean. It's convenient to beaches, shopping and the great town of Hanalei.
The unit, which is individually owned, was very comfortable for two people. The bedroom was roomy. There was no air conditioning, but a lovely breeze with cross ventilation made it unnecessary. We found the bathrooms are small and dated. The TV is an old clunker with fuzzy reception on some channels. Two of the four cushions on the outdoor table were shredded, but we used the other two chairs to dine to the view of mountains and a beautiful sunset.
