Great Ocean ViewPosted Nov 26, 2013
Pros: Beautiful views, pools, landscaping.
Cons: The use of the computer system to get guests requests right. We had to ask everyday for housekeeping.
Location: There are restaraunts and shopping all within a short distance. Also, zip lining, horseback riding, golf and helicopter tours.
We really enjoyed the property, it has beautiful pools, gardening and views. The only problems we had were unforeseen water outages that caused a room move, then another room move mid-stay due to the room being used. The other difficulty we encountered involved the housekeeping. They offered us a breakfast credit in lieu of housekeeping. We took advantage of this the first morning then decided that the credit and breakfast were not a fit for us so we went to the desk to have it changed to housekeeping services. They said ok it is changed, however everyday we received a breakfast coupon under our door and no housekeeping. We had to contact the front desk everyday to request housekeeping. This became very frustrating. Then to add to matters, housekeeping would not show up until 4:00pm and that is right in the middle of getting ready for the evening. However, the housekeepers were great and did a fantastic job cleaning up every time. We had a great stay but the inconvenience of contacting the desk for housekeeping gave us an adverse opinion of the resort. The staff were always very friendly and accommodating they just could not get that one thing correct.

Overpriced and disappointingPosted Nov 21, 2013
Pros: The bed was comfortable.
Cons: Cleanliness, affordability.
Location: Big bucks for not being on the beach.
We had booked two nights but my husband ended up in the ER so we only stayed one night. When I called to advise the desk I thought that they might offer us a reduced rate for the stay, since it was only one night, but that didn't happen. The tub in the room was dirty, I didn't realize that before I got into it. Had to take a shower after a bath! The coffeemaker made lousy coffee. The wireless didn't work in our room. All in all a very disappointing stay, will never book at a Westin again.

Pros: The property is maintained in excellent condition, the rooms and pool are very comfortable.
Cons: The kitchens are not equipped as well as I would like if you are inclined to cook meals.
Location: The property is close to Hanalei, a beautiful area with good places to eat. The beaches in the area are outstanding, along with hiking and kayaking.
The Westin Princeville consistently provides an excellent environment to experience for the north shore of Kauai.

Pros: Beautiful suite, grounds, restaurant.
Cons: Nothing really
Location: Only negative was that you have to shuttle to the St. Regis Hotel to get to the ocean/beach.
We had a beautiful 1 bedroom suite with everything you could possibly need or want. The decor was perfect and looked brand new.. The grounds, pool etc. of the resort was also beautiful.

First-class experiencePosted Sep 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay here immensely. The staff was friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to see that we were comfortable. The kids (8 & 10) played at the pool for many hours, and the other facilities were great. We didn't take advantage of the Hanalei Bay beach access through the St. Regis, but they said it was available.

Pleasant environmentPosted Jul 27, 2013
Pros: I liked best the location, the pools, the grounds, the little lanai, & the 24-hour fitness center. Free shuttle to the St. Regis - incredible beach.
Cons: Placing family guests in adjoining suites, and likewise for guests who came without their children.
Location: Hanalei Bay, where the Descendants was filmed, is 15 minutes away via car as is the Kiluauea Lighthouse. Reach the south side of the island in >hour.
The grounds are beautiful - on cliffs overlooking the ocean, expansive views, the pools (2) both provided views of the ocean & the temperatures were cool but not cold: you can slip right in & go "ahhh". Many lounge chairs & a good mix of sun & shade surrounding the pool. The staff are are all knowledgeable & helpful. The grounds staff were the most friendly of all. The rooms are suite "villas" : adjoining rooms separated via a locking door. Rooms are equipped with a kitchenette, kitchen supplies, & a washer/dryer combo which was very convenient. A lanai is attached to each room. BBQs are found throughout the grounds & many families gathered around for BBQ dinners. There is also a restaurant on site & a little market. The location is great for seeing the rest of the island & then coming back for an evening at the resort, or cleaning up & going out again. There are A LOT of families with children. If one does not share an adjoining suite with children, the Westin provides a quiet rest. Unfortunately, a family brought their infant to the island & moved into the room adjoining mine: the frequent wailing interrupted my sleep & any naps I tried to take (a physical problem necessitates I take frequent, periodic rests). I did not ask to be moved, but I think a family w/children is a better neighbor for the infant: I am sure everyone would be happier that way. Next time, I will request no children next door. Otherwise, pleasant resort atmosphere

Would come backPosted Jul 17, 2013
Pros: Pools, views, comfortable beds.
Cons: Stop pushing vouchers and timeshare sales.
You can't go wrong with a hotel that is perched on a cliff that overlooks the ocean. Everything about the property is fantastic: the pools, views, tiki torches lit at night, Hawaiian music playing, a bar that serves great drinks by the pool. Here were two issues that I had. I was seriously off put by the tacky manner in which the front desk woman tried to get us to upgrade, listen to a timeshare presentation for a "free gift", and their 10.00 voucher program in which they give you 10.00 to spend in a 24 hour period in their restaurant or market if you elect to not have your room cleaned. We elected to do it but seriously, it is humid in Kauai and we ended up not using the voucher so that we could have fresh towels etc. You can't get away without taking at least two showers a day. The vouchers only benefit the property. When you make a financial sacrifice to vacation in paradise, you don't want to have to deal with stuff like that. Other than this, the stay was amazing. Oh and paying for parking is ridiculous.
