Convenient to Monument Valley

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: The staff were nice, the location is convenient to Monument Valley, and the free breakfast was OK.
Cons: The room has no microwave oven or refrigerator. Those both help when traveling with an eight year old, as we were.
Location: It is very near Monument Valley, and about a one hour drive from four corners, but not near much else.
We were visiting Monument Valley and wanted a room near the entrance. The town of Kayenta is the only place near the valley on the Arizona side with any choice of places to stay. Due to limited availability of hotels, the prices are more than double what you would pay elsewhere. I guess they figure you can either sleep in your car, camp in the desert, or pay their price for a room.

The location is convenient. The room was clean. For a nice view of the sunset or sunrise at Monument Valley, we have to drive more than 30 minutes.

Perfectly nice hotel, if it were half the price

Pros: Nice clean rooms, helpful and friendly staff, good free breakfast with more options than usual.
Cons: pool is tiny and no hot tub.
Location: This is about as close to Monument Valley as you can stay. Not much else to do however. We also drove to Four Corners monument (90 miles) from here.
I guess it's just because Kayenta is the middle of nowhere, but I expected a lot more out of this hotel for the price. For $200 a night I thought it would be really nice, but it was just average.

Pros: Clean
Cons: Have the room ready on time.

Nice hotel, although the room was not available until about 4:00 p.m. when the check-in time was 3:00 p.m.

Near Monument Valley

Pros: The restaurant -- the only one in town -- was very good and the prices were decent.
Cons: The room needed a small refrigerator. The TV channel selection omitted CNN and MSNBC.
Location: Monument Valley
We had a very pleasant stay at the Hampton. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful, informative and friendly.

Oasis in the Desert

Posted May 23, 2014
Pros: Restaurant had very good food. The Indian fry bread was amazing. Nice breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Great merchandise in the gift shop.
Cons: Cost of all hotels in this area are very expensive. The closest hotels in neighboring towns are all about another hour drive away.
Location: Close to several fast food options and a grocery store. We were approached for money by beggars at the Burger King, grocery store, and gas station.
Friendly, clean, and comfortable. A perfect place to relax after a long day of travel.

Pros: location and that they had a nice room at the end of a long day on the road. Near where we needed to be. good starting point for monument valley.
Cons: everything was fine.
Location: at the edge of monument valley. about as far as you want to go if coming from grand canyon to spend the night to get a full day for monument valley.
made an last minute reservation from internet with no problem. got a good clean room that seemed new. Had dinner in the hotel dining room and was very plesantly surprized to find a varied menu with some local flair. all food was very good, done right and tastey. No alcohol, as is on the Indian reservation. Breakfast, included, was good. Fresh fruit, self made waffles, hot oatmeal, danish, toast, coffee, tea. Staff friendly, nice gift shop, completely hassle free. A pleasure to stay there. Would have stayed longer but on a schedule.
