“Room hot and bugs in the bed!!!!”

Seemed ok when I pulled into the dirt parking lot. Desk clerk very nice. The room furnishings were very old, carpet was nasty dirty, could not turn the heat off and therefore could not close the window with the loud traffic outside. And the final straw were the bugs in the bed. Probably there because you can't shut the window that has no screen on it to keep any bugs outside...... Miserable.

End of the Spit. Nice hotel located there.

“What A dump!”

Unimpressive structure with all the atmosphere of a ghetto tenement. Rooms are dark & gloomy and the heat appeared to be shut off for the season plus there was no ventilation or A/C. The ground level window opened right into the parking lot and offered no level of security. We tried to upgrade to a second story room & none were open. On the last night, the manager allowed a local rocker to pound away in the bar right above our room until midnight. They finally quit when we threatened to call the police. Avoid this location unless you are truly desperate; seriously consider sleeping in your car instead.

Area recommendations
Plan a fishing trip from one of the many vendors on the Homer Spit then shop along the board walk and also in Homer city proper. Lots of artsy/crafty outlets and a surprising assortment of good restaurants. We particularly liked 'Cups' & 'Fat Olives' for lunch /dinner.

“Go for the second floor”

We have stayed here in the past, in a large room (sleeps up to 6) on the 2nd floor. That section is recently remodeled, has nice kitchens, is clean, and works great for a family or group. This time I was traveling alone, so was given a room with one double bed on the first floor. The ceilings on this floor were very low. Carpets were old and stained, to the point where I didn't walk in bare feet. Vinyl in bathroom was chipped and had cigarette burn marks, and the toilet wouldn't quit running unless I took the lid off and tinkered with the innards every time I used it. The bed was very comfortable and everything else was great--minifridge, quiet room, etc. However, they need to finish remodeling the ground floor with new carpet and vinyl before I'd stay on the first floor again. I'll stay on the top floor, though. PS A big plus--they let you bring your pets!

“Great location”

Super location, right near the spit - don't think you can get closer unless you are on it. Small place, not a whole lot of rooms. Place was under renovation, but rooms were comfortable and clean. First floor room was a bit noisy from the people upstairs, as they cross a metal gangway to get to their rooms and footsteps just echo; a room on the second floor might be quieter.
