Fooled again by the pictures

We originally booked the room for 3 nights with vacationing in Alaska and stayed 1 night. The pictures show a lodge-like hotel by the Kenai river. What the reality is it's an old motor-Inn motel right by the highway with very old and outdated rooms. The motel room was clean. Thats all I can say about it.

We stayed here 1 night after taking the ferry from Valdez and before driving to Homer. We were in cabin number 5 which was equiped with everything we needed and was clean. It was however not a new cabin and was very dark and dated. We could only see ours and 1 other of this age, the others looked newer. If you stay here, and even if you dont, Gwins Lodge Restaurant is a must. A lively, bustling atmosphere and good food. We ate there for dinner and breakfast.

Nice hotel, close to fishing.

Pros: liked it all
Location: drift boat fishing, fishing from the banks, hiking and looking for wildlife.
Nice quiet location close to river for fishing. restaurant was a close distance so walking was great. Clean and quiet with clean towels and sheets. The rooms we rented would have been great for a larger family or group..We went drift fishing and the owners of the hotel owned the boats and our guide was excellent.

Very rustic cabin with comfortable beds. No tv which was refreshing.
