Fab hotel, great value and lovely helpful staff, only niggle which is no one’s fault, this large hotel has 1 tiny lift that can take a few mins to arrive. On the whole I’ll stay here every time I have an early crossing,

This hotel is ideally situated on the waterfront and also nearby shops and restaurants. The hotel offered free outdoor overnight parking in a car park around the back of the property, shared with the marina, which was a nice touch. The front desk staff were very helpful and gave us directions to the local grocery store within walking distance. The room was clean and spacious for 2 adults and 1 teenager. There was a small fridge in the room which was very helpful, plus a kettle to make tea in the morning. Overall, a wonderful stay and in Dover!

Perfect hotel with the family in a perfect location for catching the early ferry next morning. Room was huge for 5 people. Bathroom lovely and clean. Great value for money.

The staff was really friendly and moved us in a bigger room when I asked, as our room was extremely stall for a double bedroom. Overall, it was really nice atmosphere and the facilities were appropriate for the price. The restaurant food was really good. I would recommend, but the spa is really small and there is no slimming pool. Still really nice place.

Not the best place to stay.
The hotel was very large, welcoming as you walked in and what seemed like a helpful reception desk. Little did I know the £50 security deposit taken for any room charges, they deducted £25 towards your dinner (It wouldn’t have been my restaurant of choice). When i went into the restaurant I was told I had dinner included within my hotel which wasn’t actually true, they had decided to take my deposit to pay for my dinner - very disgusting behaviour!!!! The spa facilities were good, however no idea where to get a towel from, room key didn’t work for access! This was the best part of the hotel. The room was clean, however no blind on bathroom windows so full street viewing of you showering or going toilet. No instructions on how to turn the heating on - no clear on switch - had to Google the system. There is a small button on the top which is not visible to a normal height person. The bed was very solid, it was uncomfortable and definitely didn’t have a good night sleep. Wouldn’t stay here again

Stayed overnight after a works Christmas dinner and dance here. The room was huge, as was the bed! Pillows rather too fat for me, I should have asked if there was an alternative but we went to bed at 1am so it was rather late! The bathroom was cold, due to the large single glazed window, which did make it rather uncomfortable. It could seriously do with some secondary double glazing! They are the old sash windows, so I guess they can’t be changed due to planning regulations. Nice hotel though, with free parking very close by if you get a voucher from reception.

Location is excellent but… room was not clean, fridge was full of past guests old rotting food, two shopping bags full, the sheets weren’t clean, when asked for clean sheets that didn’t automatically include pillow cases and I had to ask for those separately again. Key cards randomly stop working and they don’t have enough check in staff so there’s a 20 minute wait to get card fixed and back in your room, you’ll also spend a lot of time waiting if you need the elevator it’s a large hotel with a single elevator that comfortably holds 3 people at most and it’s slow.

Lovely hotel but disappointing that age below 16yrs cannot use pool but was aware when booking. Nice shower. Rooms a little small, double bed rather than king size but great location for ferry port.

This is an amazing older grand hotel on the coast in Dover, England. We loved the location and the character of the hotel. The room was clean and well laid out. The only issue was that there is only one slow elevator for the entire hotel. This created a problem a few times when we were trying to get to or from our room. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

There were some really good things about this hotel. For one thing, we came in early on the ferry from Calais at 12:00. The staff very kindly made a room available for us by 2:00- just time for a walk and lunch. Also the bed was comfortable, the water in the shower nice and hot, and even though it’s a very old building, everything was clean. On the not so good side these rooms are SMALL. Think cruise ship small. Having read the reviews, we spent extra for the deluxe room with balcony and it was still a squeeze to get around the bed or open a suitcase. Also, they have a sign at the front desk saying they are unable to call a taxi for you. For international travelers, using the phone can be difficult. Many times we have relied on the front desk to contact a taxi for us and I am unimpressed that this hotel declines to help guests in this way. Incidentally, the room I booked was £120 on Expedia or £137 through the hotel website. I am a Best Western platinum member and would have gladly paid the extra to book through the hotel EXCEPT the hotel wanted an additional £72 for taxes and fees while Expedia charged only £20. I was unwilling to spend €70 more just to book direct so I prepaid on Expedia. .

Good stay but not to the standard we expected
Amazingly helpful and friendly staff, good decorative order for the most part but a little tired in places, room was very noisy so didnt get much sleep as we could hear everything from the lift, upstairs showering, people walking past the room with creaky floor boards and voices at all hours. View wasnt good. Bedside lamps didnt work. Air con was great and the bed was comfy. Debris round windows etc.

One of the worst locations I have ever stayed at, staff full of excuses and very unresponsive. First time I have experienced a room number change while I was not in the hotel, that is the actual number on the room door changed, not a relocation. No explanation nor apparent reason

Disappointing
Disappointing stay at this hotel - the room was in the roof of the hotel and apparently on a slope which led to me getting unbalanced and falling into the furniture and getting a huge bruise on my arm. The room was claustrophobic and in need of some TLC. Good location for the port though. Get better hotels on the app please Hotels.com.

OK but nothing special
I booked a double room, 300, which was newly decorated and modern. It had no Internet access which was a problem because I needed to do some work. I was therefore moved to a family room, 109, which did have Internet but was not as nice. It was more plastic and reminded me of what one might expect in a guesthouse. Dover seems to be full of guest houses but I wanted a proper hotel. So in the event it was disappointing to be allocated to quite a poor quality room. The breakfast was adequate, though nothing special. Overall I thought the hotel was OK but possibly quite expensive for the room I stayed in. Staff were mainly friendly and helpful.

Very conveniently located next to port. Front desk guy was very helpful since I was feeling sick and my room was not ready yet. Got me in a room sooner. Front desk man told us breakfast was included, then next morning we were told that it was not included. Surprised and want a reimbursement.

The hotel was good, room clean and comfortable. Very convienient for town and beach. There was a change in room numbers but we were not made aware and our key did not work, so had to go to reception to discover why. The window sills in the dining room needed cleaning.
