Pros: The location and the room
Cons: Customer service, especially at breakfast. How much does an extra piece of toast, or a smile, cost?
Location: Walking distance from Canterbury, close to Whistable and the seaside
Magnolia house had all the things you hope to find in a good B+B and quite a few extras you don't expect to find. Walking distance from central Canterbury, quiet, parking, very clean room, curtains that close, windows that open, comfortable bed, soft fluffy towels, fridge, responsive heating, tea and coffee making facilities with fresh milk and even a cafetiere, biscuits and chocolates that are replaced, power socket near the mirror, fresh flowers in the room. So why not a 5 rating? Unfortunately we felt that customer service was dissapointing - e.g. as requested we specified what we wanted for breakfast the previous morning, asked for porridge with cream but was told this was not possible, ticked the box for a Sunday Paper but again this was not possible, asked if we could leave the car in the car park for a few hours after checking out at 10am but was told this was not possible either Would I recommend Magnolia House to a friend? Yes if they don't mind poor customer service. But this could be improved so easily. It just seems a real shame that all the hard work in the presentation of the B+B and particularly the bedroom, was undermined by poor customer service. (We did have porridge after buying our own cream from a shop nearby).

Nigh on perfect.Posted Feb 28, 2015 on Hotels
A very comfortable and quiet room, had everything in it you could possibly wish for. I particularly appreciated the fresh cold milk in the fridge, free parking and the fresh fruit salad for breakfast and breakfast choice. It was a small room but cosy and perfect for one night's stay after a long day. There were a few cobwebs on the ceiling and the cup provided had some residue in it, but apart from that all was excellent.
