Good Location

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Good location. Friendly staff. Good bar meals and excellent breakfast. The powerful shower.
Location: Visit the Royal Dockyard and take the St Mary's island ciricular walk .
We stayed in this hotel for three nights and did not have to move our car once. The Royal Dockyard is only ten minutes walk away and there is enough to do there for two days. We ate in the hotel bar which offers good food and has a lively atmosphere. Breakfast is excellent.

Right next to the marina

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Very clean, friendly staff and good food and drink
Location: We were a 10 minute bus ride from Chatham(£1.50 one way) which went past the entrance to the historic dockyard. The RE museum is nearby.
We stayed for 1 night(23-8-14),and was pleased to see the location, right next to the marina, upon arrival we were met with a smiling and cheerful member of staff.Having checked in we went to our room, which was clean, fairly big and comfortable,we also had a view of the marina. We had our evening meal upstairs because down stairs was full, always a good sign. The food, even though pub food, was well cooked and plentiful.Breakfast the next morning was very good, there was a good choice and lots of tea and coffee.During our stay even though the staff were busy they were always polite and were very helpful. We would definately stay here again.

Very good hotel in an interesting historic setting

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: The hotel was informal set in an interesting spot, good eating facilities and an excellent breakfast.
Cons: I don,t see any reason to change the formula.
Location: Set in an old dockyard with artifacts all around and a marina ,shops, and a historic marine museum site there is pleanty to do.
Having once been employed at the area where the hotel was located I found the experience very agreeable. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.I can only find positive things to say about our stay.

Rustic offbeat hotel overlooking marina.

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: Position on maritime marina, character, cleanliness and staff
Cons: Small lounge to relax in Clean shower curtain
Location: On maritime marina. Stone's throw retail outlet and Dickens World (which can be v condescending, playing to the kids on the tour). 10mins to Dockyard.
Stayed the weekend and had a brilliant time. The hotel is minimalistic with rustic character, comfortable and clean right on the maritime area at Chatham, a stone's throw from an outlet village and Dickens World, and a ten minute walk from the Royal Chatham docks. From a spacious car park, we looked at an unattractive two storey level building with fish&chip shop, gd sized convenience store and then several discreet entrances to hotel and bar. We arrived Friday night and the spacious bar downstairs on one half of the building was buzzing opening out onto the walkway and seating area running the length of the back of the building, overlooking the waterway inlet with flats opposite. It was hot and we sat with a bottle of wine drinking in the view and the atmosphere. Bedrooms ran the length of the second storey, evens facing the water with breakfast/dining room over the bar on the end facing the basin with a great view of moored yachts. We asked for a room that was quiet with view of the water, citing room 4 as recommended on this site, but were advised 10 would be quieter and it was. It was very clean, comfortable, not large but adequate in size with small bathroom which had seen better days but had character. A step up into the room from the door with wooden rail made it look mezzanine. Breakfast included the usual from continental to full cooked/fish. A varied daily menu was avail in restaurant/bar. All the staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating.

Superb location next to marina.

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location.....................and the fantastic breakfasts.
Cons: Staff training re welcome and service and a repaint of our bathroom.
Location: Kent is not a large county - we visited Down House, Dover Castle, Leeds Castle, White Cliffs, Canterbury Cathedral and even had a day in France...!!
Room and facilities were good, but, apart from the excellent waitress at breakfast, the staff could all do with cheering up a bit. It was a pity that my request for a replacement bulb in my bedside lamp was not actioned during our three days stay, but the breakfasts were excellent and the chef was more than happy to cook everything just as we wanted it - thanks again for the really crispy bacon with the blueberry pancakes...!! Our bathroom was ready for refurbishment, but, all things considered it was good value for money and we will be back.

Lovely Location with friendly staff

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Location, staff and food
Cons: room air conditioning would be nice. Opaque window in the bathroom so that the flats across can't see in
Really pleased with location and views. Surprised that our double room had 3 steps just inside the door, good job we had no mobility problems. Very friendly and obliging staff. Excellent food and we loved the breakfast. Would definitely stay here again. Rooms could do with air conditioning though as room was very hot due to the heat wave during the days we stayed and the tower fan was noisy to keep on at night.

Business overnight

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: Clean, bright, and spacious
Cons: The staff need to be a little more cheerfull and helpfull, it's all about perceptions and attitude. T.V's in the bar.
Location: Nice location and views
Staying overnight for meeting next day. The bar is only geared up for food, and didn't have any TV's for the world cup footy so found it quite dull

We enjoyed staying at ship and trades the only bad mark was the size of the TV screens in the rooms Normally not something we do on holiday [ watch TV ] but Wimbledon was on and the afternoons were very hot so feet up etc. The staff were extremely helpful on reception and in the breakfast room. Rooms comfortable crisp clean bedlinen the only drawback was the bath come shower ok for the agile but rather high for the not so. In all we enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend it to others, as we did in the carpark as we left! I say success as I had to please 4 very fussy family members.
