Loved staying here from the winding, single lane roads to the wonderfully laid out rooms. Staff were very friendly and I loved the unique fan placement on the wall directed exactly where I wanted it to be. Great night's sleep followed by a lovely cooked breakfast to get the day started right
The pub itself was like walking back in time, beautifully restored and full of character with so many nooks to relax in. We loved it and wished we had a local like this one. Owner and staff were extremely friendly and obliging. The room was clean and comfortable and suited our needs to a T. Thank you all.

Everything about our stay was excellent. It’s situated on a quiet country lane but very accessible to the M20. The chalet accommodation was immaculate, cosy and dog friendly. The inn is very characterful and quirky and the food was comparable to restaurant food with specials to suit anyone. In terms of value for money we could not ask for more. The owner, John is so friendly. It’s so well placed for an overnight stay on the way to the tunnel. We will definitely book here again. Wonderful!
We've stayed here several times before and this visit didn't disappoint. Lovely staff, comfortable and clean room. Lovely and quiet location. We were meeting friends for a special birthday celebration at the pub so it was lovely knowing we didn't have far to go at the end of the evening.
Superb, had the dog with us and there was a doggy kit in the room. The meal was lovely in the pub,
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, overall excellent value for money, we will be back.
Lovely location, friendly staff, great food, nice pub
No negatives except there was no wi fi in the rooms which I thought there was. Apart from that highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the whole place is a cute old English feel. Breakfast was amazing. Situated in the beautiful Kent countryside. Would recommend and look forward to returning for another little night away.
Lovely pub, rooms away from main building. Evening meal was excellent as was breakfast. Rooms ok, could do with a little tlc. Overall very good, will stay here again
We would definitely recommend Black horse inn was a fabulous stay nothing was to much trouble the wonderful staff could not do anything better such a good team and everything came with a smile and all in a beautiful location can’t wait to go back
Thank you all at the Black horse inn 🙌🙌😁
Very tired looking accomodation. Leaking sink in bathroom and very thin walls. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was very good. Expensive for what you get overall.
We stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding in the area. We were really happy with our overnight stay. Our accommodation was clean & the price was very reasonable. Free parking was included which was great! We ate dinner in the restaurant. I thought it was quite overpriced for what it was. The service was pretty slow but the waitresses were lovely.
We had breakfast the next morning which was an extra charge. It was nice, nothing special & not memorable but it did the trick!
Chalets are very clean, mattress could do with replacing, pillows again feeling tired, bathroom bath mixer tap broken, apart from a few issues very peaceful in a secluded area
Great one night stay. Comfortable room with all the basics although note the lack of fridge. Couldn’t work out how to turn on the fan in the bathroom so that fogged up the room a little. Service at reception and in the restaurant was great and the food was really good.
Spacious clean, comfortable room (Lilac). Only point to make was heated towel rail in small bathroom turned the room into a sauna!!
Receptionists we’re outstanding as were restaurant & bar staff.
Will certainly use this place again.
Welcoming staff, lovely cabin style rooms linked to a lovely old pub. Really enjoyed my stay. It does seem quite remote at a crossroads of narrow lanes - so not a lot around - but that was perfect for me.
The rooms were in chalets and they were very comfortable, although we had a somewhat 'tired' room and one of the armchairs was missing. The staff were very understanding as we were staying in the pub for my Father's funeral and they allowed us to check out a little later than the set time which was very helpful to us (my Brother was in another room) and gave us some time to get ready and gather our thoughts... Thank you
I knew what to expect as I've stayed before. The sun was shining this time too!
I was in the area for my daughter's Church Blessing and Wedding. I recommended The Black Horse to family and friends and they stayed too.
The staff were friendly, the breakfasts always amazing - we stayed for 5 nights so had a few!
The views across the valley were amazing and of course it wouldn't be right not to mention Bill the Hotel cat who we loved 'chatting' to every day.
If like me you struggle with mobility request a room in Block One at the top of the hill otherwise you have to walk up Cardiac Hill to then go further up the hill to breakfast.
There is also a narrow lane of approximately three quarters of a mile to get to The Black Horse Thurnham which some drivers may dislike negotiating. It was definitely worth it in our opinion. Five stars for The Black Horse. We WILL return asap.
Unexpectedly charming cabins, spacious rooms and great to have a bath available after hiking on nearby North Downs Way. Evening meal and service was excellent. Breakfast was overpriced at £18 at middling quality - captive audience trap if hiking.
Lovely comfortable clean room in pretty location with lots of parking. Facilities in the room were all good and nice quality with extremely comfy bed. Nice touches like umberella to walk to restuarnt if raining and proper do not disturb signs instead of cheap nasty plastic or paper. Somewhere to hang wet towel (other than hook on back of door) and a larger mug for the tea tray would have made it perfect. Bathroom had signs of wear but perfectly functional with a hot powerful shower. Bin for recycling would be great too. Would stay again. Thanks.
