Quaint hotel close to centre but not right in itPosted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: Everything - friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, good food and beer, close to town centre.
Cons: Nothing, the night we spent there could not have been better.
Location: The centre of Canterbury was less than 5 minutes away, Canterbury Cathedral the obvious big draw.
We got a very friendly and warm welcome when we turned up early to leave our luggage before going on to my son's graduation ceremony at the cathedral. When we checked in we were shown up to our rooms, which while not the biggest I've ever stayed in was very clean, comfortable and full of character. The rooms are above a pub, so I would imagine that it is not quiet all the time. However, it was not right in the town centre, though barely 5 minutes walk from the cathedral, so close enough to get anywhere in the town without being disturbed by late night revellers. The pub itself was, like the rest of the building, full of character and a very pleasant place to have an excellent pint of beer. All the staff we encountered were fantastic, very friendly, always ready with a smile, and very helpful. The full English breakfast we had was perfect, topped up with as much tea or coffee as you could drink. Overall, I couldn't fault the place and would more than happily stay there again if I go back to Canterbury.

Very nice accommodation over a good pubPosted Nov 20, 2013
Cons: It was optimistic putting a double bed in what was effectively a single room, which made everything feel rather squashed
Location: Near centre, Cathedral, Marlowe Theatre and lots of other things to do
Fine breakfast, good facilities, great location, very helpful staff

Good location; friendly; down-to-earth.Posted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: Breakfast. Location.
Cons: Fix the floorboards (we were in the Squire's room on first floor)! And regulate the temperature in the room.
Location: Very good location - you can park in the car park opposite and the hotel will give you a voucher for £6 which allows you to park there for 24hrs.
Room was in a quiet part of the hotel (at the back) and a good location in the city. However the floor boards were incredible! I have never heard/experienced such noisy floorboards - in the end it was quite funny as no matter how quietly (for the other guests) we tried to walk around our bed, it was unavoidably creaky! Also the room was stonkingly hot! I've not idea why we didn't just open the window as we did this in the morning (too late!) and the temperature became more normalised! But during the night it was like sleeping in a boiler room! Floorboards and heat apart, we had a very good stay - everything else was good/fine.

Good value comfortable accommodation.Posted Oct 2, 2013
Pros: Close to Town Centre, comfortable room with view of Cathedral. Great real ale! Good value for money.
The Millers Arms was a handy place to stay on the way to Dover to catch a ferry next day.

Historic Inn near to city centrePosted Sep 17, 2013
Pros: Staff generally extremely helpful. Food very good. Location as far as city centre went very good. 'Extras' in room and ensuite helpful.
Cons: Entrance and information displayed. Décor. Drainage. Availability of lighter weight duvets. Advice about noise from mill race.
Location: Mill race and water course a natural feature, but noisy. City centre within walking distance and full of interest.
Very pleased to be able to stay so close to historic centre of Canterbury. But first impressions inside Inn rather disappointing - entrance to rooms rather run-down, had to wait for some time for someone to offer any help, then not enough information prior to arrival about car parking (voucher could have been purchased from Inn for car park) added to sense of disorganisation. Room seemed very small and ensuite had problems with cistern flushing (shower good though). Supper at Inn excellent (as was breakfast in morning). Sadly, had very poor night's sleep due to noise from mill race outside and duvet too warm - main reason for not being able to recommend. But staff helpful and friendly. Sorry for so many negative comments!

Brilliant StayPosted Sep 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
Me and my boyfriend stayed two nights in August and had a brilliant break, I have rated the condition and room low only because it could do with updating but speaking to the staff this is being done in October. The breakfast was amazing, my partner is a bit of a picky eater and they catered for this without any problems, the waitress was so nice and the morning we left we decided not to have breakfast as it was quite early and she offered for us to take something with us which was unexpected and very nice. I would love to go back and stay once the rooms have been re done in October! Would recommend to anyone!

Perfect Canterbury InnPosted Sep 5, 2013
I really appreciated the couple of nights I spent at The Millers Arms. I was a little culture shocked and they were immensely kind, offering me a phone to dial for lost baggage, a free hot breakfast which was good quality (a free breakfast of this quality would never be offered in the states and I was pleased) The setting was also very English as a traveler would enjoy it, with a well-lighted dining room, courtyard overlooking the Cathedral (a great perk) small friendly and dedicated staff as we all wish things were still, and an upbeat feel about the place. Thanks Again to the charming staff who made my stay very easy and positive.
