Not Worth a 2nd visit!

Posted Aug 8, 2014
I arrived to find the door locked at 4.30pm so had to wait 30 mins to be able to check in after 270 ml drive! Things just went downhill when I was shown my room. The walls had recently been redecorated, the old fashioned fittings , soft mattress , bathroom without shower cubicle or curtain with a none opening window and tiny wall mounted TV were not the quality I was expecting for the £65/ night.

Good for overnight before Dover

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Pros: Location - about half an hour to the ferry terminal.
Cons: Check-in/welcome process.
Location: Untested - arrived late evening, left early morning.
We booked this for an overnight stay before taking an early Dover-Calais ferry. Disappointed when we arrived. No one to help us at reception, the staff that eventually talked to us didn't seem familiar with the check-in process. No record of the table we'd booked at the restaurant - which was fully booked - but we were able to have food from the basic menu in the back room - which was OK. Breakfast server too late to have if you want to catch the 8:25 ferry. Ample parking (Saturday night). Room and ensuite clean and acceptable but nothing special.

Pub with rooms

Posted May 27, 2014
At the cost of £65 for 2 it was reasonable value. The staff were polite and friendly. The rooms were clean and fairly big with on suite. We had a nice meal there before heading out for the evening.

Weekend Disaster

Posted Mar 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
Booked double ensuite room on internet, about to leave home a couple of hours later and received phone call from hotel to say that the room booked was not available but a room with 2 single beds and shared bathroom was available.Decided to accept the revised booking (big mistake). Arrived late afternoon and allocated Room 7 up a very steep curved staircase in the roof of the hotel. Only one small overnight bag so not too much of a problem to drag the bag up the staircase.Unpacked and went to bar for a drink and a meal which was OK. Went up to bed awoke at 3am to find the kettle was missing from the room so could not make tea or coffee. Went down for breakfast which was edible but contained a cheap rubbery sausage and left. In life you get what you pay for I suppose but the place could be a lot better with a little attention to detail. Myself and my partner both have a good sense of humour and had a smile and a kiss on the drive home.

Good hotel for families.

Posted Aug 6, 2013
Pros: The excellent breakfast.
Cons: The en suite 'bath room'
Location: Very near the sea.
Although the facilities are a little dated the room was clean and tidy, and the beds comfortable. The en suite was a little tired and rather cramped, but adequate. It was surprisingly quiet in the evening considering it's an inn. Breakfast was excellent and catered well for children. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the beach so it's great for kids. The legendary Dr Syn is much in evidence to the considerable interest of our two sons.

very disappointed

Cons: The manager
Location: Good location
Got a curt greeting when we turned up early and told to come back at 2-30, there was no offer of getting a drink or some lunch while we waited.

Ship Inn

The accommodation was fine, but did not aways clear the glasses etched from the pub garden
