The worst hotel we ever stayed in. Avoid

Posted May 6, 2014 on Hotels
Below is an excerpt of the email we sent the management of this hotel regarding our stay. They have not responded. Service was the worst we have ever encountered and the food was poor and obviously re-heated. Check-in: I was shocked when I was asked to pay €100 upfront, even though our stay had been paid in full prior to arrival. Not wanting to ruin our time in Killarney, I agreed to pay the security deposit requested. Furthermore, I was forced to sign a disclaimer form which was for group bookings before I was given keys to the room. I was informed that it was “hotel policy for the weekend that was in it”. Check-out: I had to queue for nearly ten minutes before getting the attention of the stressed receptionist on duty. When I returned my key cards to her, she informed me that she would have to get somebody to check our room for damage before she would return my security deposit. I then waited another fifteen minutes before this employee was able to return my money. I witnessed a middle aged, well dressed lady, walk to the desk, place down her key cards, smile, and leave. Does this mean that she didn’t have to pay a security deposit? This leads us to consider that there may be a form of discrimination at play. On what grounds is a security deposit requested? The food we purchased in the hotel was poor. It showed obvious signs of being reheated, wasn’t warm enough despite being served on scorching hot plates.

The hotel was nice but too far to walk to town so cab fare became very expensive.

a bit like fawlty towers

Posted Oct 4, 2013 on Hotels
From our check in where the receptionist couldn't find our booking to delays with dinner, restricted menu this really had me thinking of the Fawlty Towers crew. Staff were nice. friendly but seem to lack leadership or management. I ordered a chicken sandwich around lunchtime but there was no chicken. the ham sandwich when it came had a sliver of ham and a teeny bit of butter. 2 items ordered on the dinner menu actually weren't on the menu and the meal itself took ages to be delivered. It was fine when it eventually came. The room was absolutely miles from reception and the way to the rooms is badly signed. Not in a hurry to go back.

Moderate Hotel

Posted Aug 7, 2013
Pros: Gym and pool facilities
Cons: Very busy and seems to be a popular destination for young families.
Location: Location was fine. Small bit outside the centre.
The hotel itself is fine. It is a bit dated looking and when we arrived(myself and my girlfriend) it was crawling with hyperactive children. It was a good base and one of the cheaper options for Killarney. I enjoyed having the pool, jaccuzi etc there which probably improves the score overall.
