Beautiful location for exploring Ring of KerryPosted Jul 28, 2015
We enjoyed our 2 night stay . The location is beautiful ! On the lake away from the downtown -yet close to attractions. The food at both restaurants was excellent . We had a waterfront view from our room.

Great ViewPosted Jun 30, 2015
Pros: Everything, Great View, Really nice Grounds, Wonderful room and staff.
Cons: Could use some updating in places.
Location: Ring Of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula.
Room was large and very clean, the view was wonderful, and the grounds well kept. The location was perfect. We dined in the bar two nights and the food was very good. The hotel and the Bar staff were great. We did not dine in the restaurant, we were out late with all there is in the area to do. In the evenings (Sunset at 10:30) we watched Deer and geese outside our room. Highly Recommend this property.

Beautiful, historic, luxurious hotelPosted May 29, 2015
The Lake Hotel is one of the very best in Killarney. Onsite restaurant/pub, friendly and helpful staff, historic and old fashioned, clean, well maintenanced, and the view cannot be beat. Perfect location on the fringe of the main town center and within the Killarney National Park. Cheap cab rides to town. Excellent food and drinks for both breakfast and dinner. Evening entertainment in the bar lounge was very nice. Fun ruins to visit just outside of the restaurant. Swans in the lake, deer in the forest, views of the lake and mountains. Best hotel we stayed in while in Ireland. NOTE: We were not travelling with kiddos, but we did notice a sign placed outside the restaurant saying they only cater to children for a 45 min window from somewhere around 6-7pm.

Nice hotel with a beautiful viewPosted May 26, 2015
Pros: The view was great. This hotel is close to everything, but you feel that you are in your old little world.
Location: The tour of Mucross House and Gardens was fun and interesting. The Ring of Kerry is a must do, but do it early before the buses.
This hotel was one of the highlights on our recent trip to Ireland! The view from the rooms is second to none. It was so relaxing that we just stayed at the hotel one day to decompress. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone doing the Ring of Kerry. Our only regret is not being able to stay longer.

A Good Commercial Hotel ... But A Commercial HotelPosted May 13, 2015
Pros: Location--extraordinary situation on the lakeshore, lovely view over lake and mountains--and convenience. Comfortable, large rooms.
Cons: There is no sense of personalized service: it's one size fits all, out of the box.
Location: Killarney has become "industrial-touristy" and can best be given a pass. Kenmare, just 30 km away, is a far nicer town, a tourist town, but nicer.
The Lake Hotel is a somewhat standard four-star commercial hotel, best adapted to up-market bus tours. It wouldn't be a four-star hotel to charm a more demanding or experienced traveler: it lacks character. So it depends upon one's perspective, for some a very good standard of what they would take for luxury, for others a big box hotel without soul. Rooms are very comfortable. Dining room isn't bad, but very bus tour standard. Service is OK but not more. The site is splendid: what a shame this isn't an absolutely first rate hotel!

Outstanding! Incredible Customer Service. We arrived very late and restaurant was closing, but as I was signing in at the front desk, the porter whisked our luggage away to our room, the front desk called to the restaurant to stay open for us, and they were ready and waiting for us with window seat and all. The music and ambiance were brilliant. Our balcony view in the morning was breathtaking - heaven on earth. The room was clean, huge, well appointed, and quiet. The receptionist had maps to guide us to the Dingle Peninsula and it was all she told us it would be - the most fantastic incredible views and drive. I spoke with management at the delicious breakfast about how impressed we were with our experience here. Will recommend The Lake Hotel to everyone I know and hopefully come back for more in the future.
