“Great value floating hotel”

This hotel is aboard a large boat, which is docked by the Hydropark metro station. The rooms are compact, but satisfactory. The bathrooms were fine, but the water from the shower flooded its floor. The breakfast was included and was a decent start to the day. The city centre can either be reached by taxi or by the local metro station, which is accessed through the nearby park. We always travelled by metro in the day (ten minute walk and 7 minute commute) and caught a taxi home at night (costs around 50-80 local currency). The hotel has a bar and restauant (pretty expensive but very nice for a one off) and an erotic nightclub, which we didn't visit (honest dear!!). If you don't mind being slightly out of town this place is spot on and we would all return (5 blokes from Brum and 1 from the big smoke). Would be a good choice for the Euro Championships (if we qualify!!).

“Good Quality Hotel for the price, up to Western Standards”

Hotel is nice and modern, very good by Ukrainian standards. Nice restaurants nearby (Greek one was great) and buffet breakfast was good. The rooms were quite modern with high speed internet all over the hotel which was useful. Areas to improve- our bar fridge was empty and there was no bottled water provided (you CANNOT drink the tap water in the Ukraine). So we had to walk to a shop near the Dnipro Metro station to buy bottled water to drink. The coffee at breakfast was instant, to buy real coffee it was a rip off, about 4-5 Euro (a lot by local standards). The shower is not really separate (only by a curtain) so you'll end up with a small flood on the floor. Overall I would stay again, I've stayed in some other Soviet style hotels in Kiev for the same price which are terrible.

“Acceptable hotel but off the beaten path from the city center”

This is a very nice hotel. The breakfast buffet was very good, the room was small but adequate, the bathroom is very small and would be uncomfortable for a large man but I am only 5'8", so it was fine. My only complaint is the room I was in was a standard room on the first floor and I had no control over the heating system and no opening window so it got a little stuffy in the room and too hot at times.

“Comfortable hotel Acceptable location”

Because this is a floating hotel, perhaps it moves?!? The location we had printed from the website after making the reservation was different from the actual location. I see the location shown on the website today is in fact correct. The hotel itself is very comfortable and our room was spacious. The breakfast was great. We had a water view and it was lovely to watch the ships. We were unable to open the door however to the scenic balcony because there was no screen and the outside bugs were very attracted to me. (We were there in May). I was happy to have the business center for internet use (small fee) since I was not carrying a laptop. We were using public transit to get around Kiev and found the bus to Podil District easy to use in one direction. To return by bus or subway, you must walk a long tunnel under the highway. We were uncomfortable with this after dark, so cabs were necessary. Overall, very nice hotel, especially if you need a place to park a car.

“First Visit to Kiev”

Very interesting hotel with the location on the river. It is a short walk to the nearest subway station so even though it is a somewhat isolated location it is not too difficult to get into the city. The restaurant is good for dinner but I was disappointed with the breakfast. As a non-Russian speaker the staff was very helpful.

“Good Views”

The Bakkara has great views overlooking the Dnipro river. It was very relaxing just watching the river activities. The breakfast was very good and had plenty of variety. All the staff were very helpful The room was quite compact but for one night was suffice for our needs, if staying longer I think it would have been a bit small. The shower was very compact but the shower water flooded the whole floor and it remained wet for the whole evening.

“Could have been better”

There was some kind of engine onboard which ran continuously and created quite a bit of noise. Initially I was placed in a room on the first floor not far from the source. Perhaps the thrumming was meant to give me the feeling that the ship was underway at sea but it was annoying. The internet also did not work in my room so I requested a room change and the staff kindly obliged. I was moved to a room at the farthest end of the boat where the noise was reduced to an acceptable level and the internet worked. The beds were narrow (3') but comfortable enough. The bathroom was pint-sized and seemed clean but there was a somewhat unpleasant odor coming from somewhere. There was a desk with a tv and space for my computer but no chair to sit on. The breakfast buffet was adequate - not very impressive. Overall the price was good and the hotel was acceptable but I likely won't stay there again until the construction is finished and that motor is put to rest.

“ASz”

Good hotel, comfortable but smallish room as it is a boat permanently docked. The breakfast is brilliant, staff is really friendly. The location is good in the summer but otherwise far from the sights and the city centre. Good value for money.

“Bakkara is a mixed bag, over all good”

excellent location to public transportation, service staff excellent, facilities ok; i.e. walls rather thin, lots of spiders on outside of this converted ship. Great views on the river side. Excellent breakfast, water in room smelled like the river, otherwise a smart choice.
