“Mostly Impressed”

Overall, I had a very good experience at Hotel Lybid. The Hotel was clean and I thought was fairly priced. They also had a wonderful restaurant and I ate at the breakfast buffet every morning. The staff there was quite friendly and gave good service. The only thing I can say that I did not appreciate was the lack of friendliness of hotel "security" They never smiled or warmed up, and watched you like a hawk. The front desk personnel were mostly friendly and gave good service, and spoke English well. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kiev. However, sometimes you may receive some cold treatment.

“Good balanced value for money”

Nice hotel for business traveller. Clean place, friendly staff. Good breakfast in restaurant. Room small but comfortable, with nice king bed, nothing fancy though.

“A place to sleep”

Lybid looks and feels like a typical soviet era building. We had a suite, so there was plenty of room, and the maid service kept the room clean and well supplied. Included breakfast buffet is sizable, and just about anyone can find something they can eat there. Restaurant was decent. That about sums up the good news. Front desk staff is "soviet friendly", which means not very. People in the on-site currency exchange were flat out nasty, but fortunately they were almost always on a break, or out of local currency, so interaction was limited. We had a queen size bed, but with the exception of the fitted sheet, all other bedding is for a single, so we both had our own covers. Shower is raised up, and could be dangerous for older guests or people with limited mobility or the less agile. Room safe did not work, nor would they fix it. Hotel sports bar is also the entrance to a "gentleman's club", and the "talent" hangs out in the bar trying to drum up business. Overall, you get what you pay for here. Rooms are ok, think of a clean Motel 6 or similar hotel with an uncomfortable bed. Don't expect much, but rooms were clean, and location was suitable for our needs. If you aren't looking for luxury, and can live with the other items listed above, you could do a lot worse.

“Hotel Lybid”

Standard Eastern European/former Soviet Union hotel. Nothing special to write home about (not even the so-so strip club in the lobby). Decent service, friendly staff. One word of caution, you will be approached by hookers in the hotel bar, but that is not all that uncommon for this part of Europe.

“Decent Hotel with nice food”

Hotel Lybid is a decent hotel in a location fairly close to major tourist attractions. It is around 30-45 minutes of walking distance from city centre. It is conveniently located but at the same time quiet at night. Hotel staff can speak English well and are very helpful. Breakfast is tasty and healthy with a large variety of choices. People not staying in the hotel cannot gain access to hotel rooms and facilities, proving that security is well maintained.

Area recommendations
If people come to Kiev for business or tourist purpose, I'd recommend them to stay in the neighbourhood where Hotel Lybid is located. If people want to stay in a very quiet environment for solitude or contemplation purpose, I'd recommend them to stay in Irpin (around 1 hour by car from city centre of Kiev) which offers a peaceful surrounding of tranquility.
Shopping
The handicraft of Ukraine is beautiful. I'd recommend buying handicrafts which come in forms of clothings, table cloth etc. in the shopping malls in Kiev City Centre or at some underground shopping centres. But better compare the prices among a few shops first before buying.

“Excellent hotel for a modest price”

We are completely satisfied with hotel service. Room was nice, quiet and very clean. Breakfast was having a variety of choses and food was absolutely deliciuos. Business center has computers with quick internet connection. Staff along with security people was very polite and helpfull. It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel.

Hotel is conveniently located to all attracions in center of the city. And it is up to visitors chose what they like to see.

“not Impressed”

I didn't like the hotel that much. the rooms are not clean and it very small. may be the position is ok but i dont recommend this hotel.

“Good customer service”

Unlike many hotels in Ukraine, the Lybid Hotel has well trained staff that are very helpful, reasonable rates and good rooms.
