Perfectly OK, but nothing special

Posted Apr 27, 2014
Pros: Comfortable and clean, and everything seemed to work OK. Good room service menu and prompt service.
Cons: Breakfasts were a bit dull and with limited choice. Would have liked tea / coffee making facilities in the room, and a good, bright desk lamp.
Location: Very close to the World Bank. If you're touristing, it's also handy for the Perchersk Lavra, and Maidan Nezalezhnosti is only a 20 minute walk away.
Stayed for five nights on business. Chose this hotel for its convenient location, and the price was good too.

Well-appointed Soviet blast from the past

Posted Apr 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
First of all, the room was clean, well appointed, with a new flat screen TV. Good windows which shield traffic noise. But it's the architecture which makes this place amazing. It's shaped like a cylinder, and the street side of the room curves with the hotel. This building is regularly on the list of "top 20 strange Soviet buildings." It's well worth staying here just to experience the atmosphere. Overall, room was great, and front office staff was great Only thing I didn't like was that breakfast was rather spartan, and the guy monitoring the breakfast looked like he just got out of jail. He did make excellent an cappuccino on demand, so one shouldn't judge by appearances I suppose.

Never back again

Pros: Nothing...
Cons: Everything, customer service,
Location: Nothing, pretty isolated
Not what I expected. if you are a late comer, you are out of luck for any of facilities. Everything close early. This is a hotel for Chris sake...

Good location, good views

Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Its location is both close to central Kiev and its business district as well as to parks, the Dniepr River and major historic attractions.
Cons: The WiFi signal. It failed every several minutes.
Location: Central located, the business district is close, Lavra, the park, some monuments, good views, all right nearby
I managed to check in three hours early. The staff were professional and courteous. The breakfast consisted of a wide array of both sweet and savory offerings. The room was very good value for money, clean and with a good view on the river a park and the Lavry cathedrals. The WiFi signal was weak, that would be my only criticism. Overall I had a great experience.

good deal for the price

Posted Jul 2, 2012
Pros: View.
Cons: Customer service needs improvement.
Location: Convinient location.
The first room we got was facing the street so it was a bit noisy and didn’t have a good view. We asked for another room. They gave it to us but we had to wait 30 min while it was being cleaned after check-out guest. Room was much nicer: renovated, great view to the park and Dnepr River from the balcony. Hotel location is convenient: 10 min walk through the park to the Kievo Pecherskaya Lavra, 5 min taxi ride to Khreschatyk (ask receptionist to call taxi for you to avoid being overcharged by taxi driver). Restaurants in this area are relatively expensive. If you ask a waiter for a recommendation make sure to check price before ordering (chances are waiter will recommend the most expensive dish on the menu))). It happened to us and we paid X3 average for our first dinner. Overall hotel is OK, not magnificent, but a good deal for the price we paid.

Shot on the Balcony

Posted May 15, 2012
Pros: Nice view if they do not shoot you with the laser cannon
Cons: Agressivity
Location: Very central....good to explore Kiiv.
When walking out to the room balcony in the morning without any prior notice me and my business guest, we were shot by a laser cannon operated some uniformed men from the next roof. After it four police men broke into our room and closed all the windows shouting Russian, no English. Later on some black cars drove along the street....that might be the reason. Even today I see flashing even if I close my eyes. I just do not understand why they did not inform us before shooting us. Be hurry with the showers....after 9 a.m. there is no warm water. The bad is quiet hard. But first of all save your eyes, best is if you do not open the window.....I do not understand why they advertise with their view if you cannot open the window.
