Clean hotel in Moshi city centre

Posted Mar 8, 2015
Pros: Rooms are fairly clean and quiet.
Cons: Restaurant could be improved - the staff there seemed tired and demotivated.
Location: Location ok and near shops around the city.
Despite informing the manager that we were in town for the annual Kilimanjaro marathon and breakfast was needed at 5am, he categorically stated that restaurant staff lived far away and could not avail the service at that time though it was a bed/breakfast booking. I did not even have my breakfast after the marathon as there was none! I ran on an empty stomach! Manager needs to be more receptive to genuine client requests.

Nice room not best service

Posted Jan 15, 2015 on Hotels.com
Room was great, large and clean. Only got one channel and shower was a small drip. Receptionist gave me a hard time since I had booked with hotels.com but they had no wifi for me to get my reservation. Power went out a lot and no fan so room got really hot. Breakfast was the usual biting egg.

Great budget option

Posted Dec 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
Its a budget hotel so as long as you keep your expectations low. Even with that said, the staff were all very nice and friendly. The room was large and clean. The shower doors were broken but i didnt bother me. The tv reception was not great. Again, i did not let this bother me. The one thing that was a bit annoying was the lack of wifi in the rooms. It did work well in the restaurant and lobby tho.

Cons: Change the Expedia website!!!!!!!!
The hotel staff were all lovely, and despite mixing up our booking fixed it upon request. However the Expedia site is extremely misleading and there is no in room kitchen or fireplace as suggested on the site. This was really disappointing as this is the reason we chose this hotel. This information needs to be changed to ensure that others do not come expecting facilities which we clearly not there. The food and location are good however the rooms are really light and very noisy. They are clean and the beds comfortable.

Accommodation basics

Posted Aug 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
The executive double room had hot water and a comfortable bed. The other room I booked (2 single beds) had to be changed 2 times to get hot water. The cable TV had only 2 channels ( not the 60 advertised) ,CNN and a channel that played movies. Only 2 outlets in the room, one for the light and 1 for coffee maker, so had to keep unplugging things to charge phones, etc. ( also, 'coffee maker' is just a hot water machine, so bring your own instant coffee, cup and spoon, etc.)and the electricity is off when you leave the room, so you can't leave things to charge when you're out. Only one of the staff we dealt with spoke English fairly well and none of them were particularly friendly. The restaurant was was supposed to be open until 11pm, but was closed at 10:15, when we tried to get a cup of tea. I got a hot shower and a good night's sleep, but don't expect a lot more than that.

Very nice place to stay.

I really enjoyed my 20 days in Osy Grand Hotel. It was situated near many conveniences ( shopping, exchange bureau ). There was WiFi at the hotel (restaurant and room). It wasn't always good (depending on the weather ) but most of the time,WiFi was good. Breakfast was also good. I also had my lunches and suppers there. These meals were also good. The personnel ( at the reception and the restaurant,as well for the maids for room cleaning) even the manager and directors were very thorough in their job and very friendly.

Adequate but over-priced

Posted Mar 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel is only average by Tanzanian standards and is very overpriced for the quality of the rooms. The good points: central location; nice restaurant; the a/c cooling worked well. The not so good points: the a/c units leaked a lot of water into our room; there was a hot water heater but no pressure for the hot water to actually come out; there were windows to the area outside our room with no curtains so a lot of light came in; the only parking is down a side-alley which is not easy to access; we asked for a second key for our room (because we taking turns looking after a baby) but were told we would have to pay for the whole room a second time to get another key!

Nice little touches

While the hotel was quite basic, I felt the staff make up for any shortcomings. Very friendly at breakfast and very helpful with information about the town. More than happy to offer guests the use of a laptop for free which was much appreciated.

Nice hotel near downtown Moshi.

Posted Oct 24, 2013
Pros: Unfortunately, I got very ill while in Moshi on my last trip. The location was excellent with a pharmacy and mini-market next door.
Cons: Access to wireless was not consistent.
Location: Everything is close - most within walking distance. Coffee shops, Nakumatt, market. Be sure to check out the IndoItalaino restaurant.
I always enjoy staying at this hotel when in Moshi. Staff are friendly, food is good and the room is clean.

Enjoyable stay

I stayed here after my Kilimanjaro hike and was pleasantly surprised when I got to my room. The exterior looks a little sketchy and if you're arriving at night the surrounding area may be quite intimidating. I entered my room and found a TV, king bed, clean washroom, modern security system and a view overlooking Mt. Kilimanjaro! The hotel is located close to several souvenir shops, a mosque and the Kilimanjaro Coffee Lounge! Service was great and all staff were very respectful. Breakfast was complimentary albeit very basic.
