Get Location and Wonderful ValuePosted Sep 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel is right in the heart of Kilkenny and a few steps for the main part of City Centre. The staff was very accommodating, the breakfast was lovely and there was free parking - a real bonus in town when you are traveling with a car.

Great location, eeeh hotel.Posted Sep 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
This place is in a great location. Just a few minutes walk from just Kilkenny Castle, food, shopping, etc. There's free parking in the back, great if you're driving around. The hotel itself could be very cool with some upgrades and deep cleaning. The building was an old Huntsman Club turned hotel, and looks like it's still decorated with the same stuff animal heads and decor from back then. It's all a bit raggedy, faded and old/dirty looking. The room was very basic, but clean. The restroom was nothing special, looked like it needed some major renovation with water damage being pretty obvious. The free Wifi only really works well in the common areas so you may not be able to use it in your room. There is no air-conditioning, but the temperatures while there were fairly cool so we were ok with it at the time. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful at check-in so that is a plus. Overall, if location is your goal this is a great place. If someone were to restore and upgrade this place it could be a really cool boutique hotel.

Old hotel, but convenientPosted Sep 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed one night at the Club House. Staff seemed very nice and they were happy to hold our luggage after we checked out so we could do some more exploring in Kilkenny. The hotel itself is old -- some would say quaint. Rooms could definitely use some updating, especially the bathrooms. If you need a place, this is a decent option.

Club House recommendationPosted May 3, 2012
Pros: Quirky layout and old style charm
Location: Very central the the city centre with ample free parking at the rear.
At first glance the exterior looks dated and this is confirmed by the entrance to the reception. However this is in now way detrimental to the charm of the place and warm welcome we received on arrival. Our room was spacious with a sitting area and plenty of storage space. The bathroom also was large and spotlessly clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend the hotel for those who don't want to stay in the predictable layout of a modern style of hotel room. Breakfast was ample and freshly prepared to order. Wo'nt hesitate to use this hotel again.

Avoid this hotel if possiblePosted May 7, 2008
While the hotel is a charming old building, "old" is the operative description. There is no elevator, making it very difficult for senior citizens. The rooms are located throughout a myriad of twists and turns, which is an extreme pain for lugging baggage. Our room was a "king-sized" bed that was actually two twin beds pushed together (we did encounter this at another hotel, however). The room was extremely small leaving little room to store luggage; and there are no washclothes, so you need to bring one. The service was mediocre and the breakfast was forgettable. The hotel didn't offer much in ambience and had the odd smell of an older building, so taking into account all of the above, perhaps that is why this hotel is "unrated"? Recommendation is to find another hotel, which there are PLENTY in each town center.
