A LOST NIGHTS SLEEP

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: decent restaurant
Cons: management attitude
Location: convenient for shopping (if i were a shopper)
Terrible stay made worse by indifferent (borderline incompetent) management excessive noise disturbances at unprecedented levels at 4:00 AM which were received with little or no concern let alone consequence by hotel management.

Cosy hotel

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Room was quaint with 'homey' touches. Nice pool area. Restaurant was good.
Cons: Room was moderately clean. Heat lamp in bathroom didn't work. Halls were very damp and humid.
Location: Not much to do near the hotel. Shopping was about 10 minutes away. Easy to find with adequate parking.
Stayed for 6 nights. Cosy room with fireplace. Pool was nice.

The staff were very efficient at the reception desk and in the restaurant. Enjoyed our stay.

Surprise Party in Kingston

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Service, friendliness, cleanliness, accommodations, food, flowers/waterfall outside hotel
Cons: Teabags in our room.
Location: Good central location to downtown or suburbs.
We were in town to take our friends out for a surprise retirement party for them. Only thing was, it turned out to be a surprise Anniversary Party for us. We had a late check in to our hotel that night, but all went smoothly. There is a warm, friendly, comfortable feel to this hotel. All my family enjoyed their stay. The breakfast that came with our room was a nice touch and we had plenty to eat. Thanks Best Western Fireside Hotel.

The stay was work related

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Restaurants on site and nice breakfast
Cons: I didn't see elevators and my husband is in a wheel chair so we would not be able to stay if there is no rooms on main floor. Hard to get around
The room was clean , bed was very comfortable. Had a drink and a meal in restaurant at entrance so I didn't have to leave the hotel to go eat.

Disappointing

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: Pool area, breakfast.
Cons: Elevator...at least a clear notice on their website stating that there is none. Cooler common areas.
The reception area was small and busy due to breakfast area being off one side and Tom's Place being on the other. The hallways were narrow and all public areas were warm. There is no elevator in this hotel. Our room was on the second floor and when going up the stairs, I tripped on the top one as the height is different than the others. Asked the front desk receptionist a question about a local attraction and she was unable to answer our question. Breakfast was good, the pool area was nice. Won't return to this hotel though.

Nice hotel but cold meals.

Posted Jul 13, 2014
The hotel had nice curb appeal when you walk in and so did the room but when I jumped on my "I've been waiting for you forever king size bed"....it was like landing in a bag of marshmallows and I couldn't get out. So that was disappointing but the rest of the room was nice. Also the "hot" breakfast buffet was cold.

Not your typical Best Western

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: Pool area was gorgeous, staff was friendly and helpful
Cons: We were unimpressed with the movie selection. The "movie channels" had no movies on them and there was no dvd player.
Location: It's not right downtown Kingston, but pretty close. We visited Fort Henry and had a picnic in the park by the water.
We stayed one night at the Fireside Inn. Our room was cozy, lodge type decor. The staff was very friendly. We also dined at the Steakhouse Bistro in the restaurant, and it was fantastic. We got to know the waitress at dinner, and she even brought us some extra treats at the breakfast buffet the next morning. The pool area is fantastic, with the bar right there, lounge chairs, gardens, and a beautiful pool. You can almost forget you're in Ontario, and pretend you're in the Caribbean.
