Typical poor quality over priced ski style hotelPosted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: Its location, seems to be the hub for many things - shuttle buses, free wifi, food and drink, arena.
Cons: Providing of information and relaying correct information, make sure people know where to go so they arent guessing.
Location: Aside from skiing there are safari companies who do skidoo rides (far the best activity), snow shoeing, reindeer ride, husky ride just a few I did.
Hotel has some positives all based on its location. Its close to centre of Levi (5 min walk), next to a supermarket and alcohol shop and has restuarants, also it has free wifi so you find people sitting in the lounge areas just surfing. However unfortunately this is all I can rave about with this 4 star hotel - seriously is more like 3 star. The staff were friendly and helpful at the end of my trip but were rude at the start. I know my finnish is bad but on arrival the receptionist looked at me as if I was crazy to ask in finnish to check in and proceeded to speak slowly to me in English the fact I am English made that highly irritating. Also you have to be psychic in knowing your way around the hotel as they seem to not want to tell you on arrival - the elevator is through the lounge, breakfast is in the top floor restaurant, the gym and sauna/beauty treatments are on reception floor level and to the very far side of the hotel, oh and if you want to catch the airport shuttle bus wait outside the hotel not inside as I was told because it will assume no one wants it and will go - as was my case and had to pay for a taxi to the airport! But didnt affect trip too much as I tried to stay out as much as possible. There are lots of activities to do if you dont want to ski however most are overpriced and waste of time.

Excellent hotel in the centre of the village.Posted Feb 16, 2014
Location: The location is in the centre of Levi village and you are spoilt for choice with activities to participate in. Areal hub of excellent snowy activities
The hotel was so easy to get to on the local bus at just over 7 euros. As we arrived extremely late on the first evening we were given an alternative huge family room which was no issue as we were just glad to arrive but the staff were so attentative and offered us tickets for a concert that we had travelled to Levi to see and also vouchers for eating out. We were happy enough with just the offer so just took them up on the eating out vouchers. When we got to our proper room it had everything that we needed, we have stayed at this hotel on many occasions previously and find it caters for every need. Since our last stay with them they have changed the ground floor lobby area to include a 24 hour bar with snacks available which is a great improvement. We have to admit that as we do not have children we found that staying at Hullu Poro at this time rather than just before Christmas was ideal as there were not lots of spoilt children running around causing havoc everywhere so we will return next February as we can not rate this hotel enough. There are many other hotels in the village but this is by far the best, Well done Hullu Poro. Kiitos...
Good option to stay at LeviPosted Feb 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
Levi is an excellent place for holiday in Finnish Lapland. Service is excellent and all the must-see experiences are close to each other. Hotel Hullu Poro has a good location next to the nightlife and activities. Breakfast is excellent.

Off season you are second tierPosted Jul 16, 2012 on Hotels.com
We stayed for a one-night stopover in early July. Our room was on the second floor, and the temperature on the whole floor as well as the room were intolerably hot. This was not caused by the radiator which was cool. We had checked in at the time the reception closed (11 PM) so we could not effectively complain. The reception staff was otherwise extremely helpful. Outside the winter season, the snowless grounds are not well taken care of.

Ok, basic three star.Posted Apr 30, 2012
4 star breakfast and upscale nice lobby, cozy breakfast-room. Clean and nice room, the TV was an old outdated unit without all usual channels tuned, small fairly warm refridgerator. Nice bathroom with warmed floor. Good firm bed, squeaky furniture. The only "unacceptable" situation was that there is a balcony that runs alongside the whole 2nd floor, I dislike having people walking by outside the window. Some former guests had also put a used diaper inside a plastic bag and discarded it outside on the balcony. Seemed it had been there for a while. The cleaning-staff should patrol the balcony on a daily basis to check the condition.

Hullu Poro hotel,LeviPosted Apr 17, 2012 on Hotels.com
We stayed here last year having booked a package with a ski company. We booked last minute this year through Hotels.com and accommodation was better. Receptionists more friendly and helpful this year and rooms in better condition. (rather dated last year but still clean) Buffet good, varied and plentiful. Sauna good. Situation good, bus- stop outside, and with easy reach of centre and supermarkets. We look forward to returning again next year.
