“Off the beaten path, but a decent value”
Online, this particular Red Roof Inn (and there are about four in the Knoxville area) is listed as Red Roof Inn-University of Tennessee. But I wouldn't classify it as "close" to campus, and it's probably a 10-minute drive down the highway. Plus, the hotel itself can be a little tricky to find, especially on your initial drive in. It's situated behind a barbecue restaurant, and it's not altogether clear how to get there on first glance. The first room that I got reeked of cigarette smoke, despite it being a non-smoking room. However the front-desk attendant apologized and switched me to another room, which was perfectly fine. It's nothing fancy, but the room was clean and comfortable. I was traveling on business, and I did occasionally notice that the wireless Internet signal was spotty. Fortunately I travel with an aircard for my laptop, but be warned if you're looking for free wireless that you may encounter some problems.
“Nice place to stay”
This is a decent, reasonably priced hotel. The staff was friendly. the room clean and quiet. It was easy to get to from the highway. The only real complaint had nothing to do with the hotel itself, just the way the intersection leading to it was laid out made it difficult to get to other locations nearby.
“nothing fancy”
Our stay was very nice. The room was clean and the "non-smoking" rooms were actually non-smkoing!! If we go back to Knoxville again, we would stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room met our needs and was reasonably priced.
“Friendly Staff”
Staff was friendly; room was clean; bed was comfortable. For a one night stay where a bed and shower were my only requirements, this was a good choice at a very affordable rate.
“Smokey”
Numerous rooms empty. Wanted to change rooms but clerk told us their computer system wouldn't allow us. How stupid is that ? Wouldn't stay there again
“Struck By Lightning”
I got the "Deluxe Room" which just means it has a micro wave and mini fridge. Bed was one big hole in the middle. The place had no phones and the one employee had to run up to each room before checking someone in to make sure the TV worked. She said they got struck by lightning.
“good clean budget stay”
the room was clean and good for a over night stay.....
“Nice hotel, basic but clean”
Provided the basics, no frills and all we needed for our overnight stay. Room was clean, and it was quiet and very convenient. And like others have said, the restaurant next door, Famous Dave's, was AWESOME! One thing, though, it is called University of Tennessee, but it is a good 10 miles from the campus!
“Good hotel for the price.”
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Centrally located in the city. Close to the interstate and lots of shopping and restaurants. I will choose it again!
“Good Value”
This is a good place to stay for the price. The only complaint I would have is that the breezeway lights were not on when we came back from dinner. I'm not sure if they were on a timer and it had not clicked on or if someone had just forgotten to turn them on, but it was rather spooky getting on and off of the elevator. The rooms however was extremely clean. I would stay there again.
