Excellent location close to Manchester.

Pros: Location close to Manchester and Dunham Massey.
Cons: Jacuzzi didn't work in bedroom!
Location: Dunham Massey (National Trust) with special WW1 exhibition
Despite the fact that there was a wedding party in the hotel (we were warned) our room was quiet and the staff were very friendly, helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. Food excellent in restaurant.

Lovely place, great food

Posted Mar 7, 2013
Pros: Food
Cons: Wifi problems
Location: OK. You all have maps, judge for yourselves!
Lovely hotel, fantastic food. Only downers were the Wifi in the evening and the hot water in the morning, which were both inconsistent. I was up in the very top room, so perhaps it was that. Oh, and no proper ale in the bar. Still left happy, which shows how good the rest was.

Carefull about staying here; avoid vbad Restaurant

Posted Sep 11, 2012
Pros: Nice grounds and appearance. Reception was fine and so was very good breakfast
Cons: the restaurant was absolutely dreadful
Location: good. Well situated in pleasant grounds
The did not service our room at all on thev second night! And the restaurant was DIRE. It is difficult to rate the restaurant in this hotel badly enough. The food is OK, though not brilliant and the portions adequate but the service is truly abominable. We booked a table for 19.30 and arrived at 19.25. Their system is to sit one in the lounge [presumably in the hope one will buy drinks] but we refused to do that, and after some persuasion we were reluctantly permitted to sit in the restaurant. We finally got the menu, after complaining quite vigorously, at 20.00. Half an hour. The staff were clearly following their routine and were not to be moved no matter what we said. And no, they were not apologetic. It took about another half an hour before we got any food – an hour after we had sat down and after more complaints – and the main course eventually arrived at 2100 – one and a half hours after we had booked into our table. The restaurant was not busy – by any normal standards – and there were a number of other guests who were quite clearly annoyed by the delays. So it was not that they were overworked or overwhelmed, but they do have absolutely no apparent awareness of the guests’ feelings or requirements and even if they did they have absolutely no intention of changing their routine to suit anyone but themselves. We ate out for the second night at a Loch Fyne which was fine. Nothing would induce us to return to this restaurant again which we think is truly dreadful.

Lovely Stay at Mere Court

We stayed for one night for our anniversary and also booked in at the Arboreum Restaurant for their three course meal The hotel was easily found right off the motorway and plenty of parking was available even though there was a wedding on the night we stayed. Check-in was quick and easy and we were directed to our room. The room itself was much larger than we had expected with a Super King size bed, seating area and dresser and the room was clean and well presented. Tea and coffee were provided and there was also an iron and ironing board. For those people that like to stay in their rooms there was also a TV with Sky Sports and Freeview channels available. The food in the restaurant was good and very reasonably priced. We found the drinks to be on the expensive side although considering the price of the food we didn't mind too much. We would definitely stay here again.
