fishing trip in Alaska
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: The breakfast they provided was very tasty.
Cons: A new roof was being put on starting at 7:00 a.m. on the morning we were there. Tooo early!
Location: There was easy access to downtown Kodiak. We enjoyed walking around the town.
This is an older hotel that could use some up-dating. It was in good condition for it's age. However, it needs some TLC.

Will stay there again and again!

Pros: The staff! They were so friendly.
Cons: The distance from the lobby to my room
Location: The Inn is right in the middle of downtown and you can walk to pretty much everything.
The Kodiak Inn isn't new or anything, so the hall carpeting is a bit warm and the halls wander. But that's part of its charm. The staff are very nice and everyone tries to make your stay the best one you ever had, anywhere.

Limited choices

Pros: Harbor view
Cons: Unkept ness of the property
Location: Kodiak is a beautiful island to visit.
There are limited hotel options so there is no incentative for major improvement. I'd recommend a B&B, or vacation home.

Where to stay in Kodiak
Posted Jan 28, 2012
Cons: Not having the restaurant open each night. My 2nd choicethe 2nd Floor was closed the same night so settled for a deli sandwich from the grocery store
After spending the previous night in a fairly bad hotel, the BW seemed great. Having said that, I've had back surgery and not having an elevator to get to the necessary floors is a big drawback, and they're not really equipped to help people. Again, having had back surgery, there was no choice of pillows - way too big. I'm glad I had my backpack pillow with me. Having the restaurant closed my first night was disappointing as the restaurant is supposed to be open every day. But I'm being picky. I'd definitely stay there again - the heat and hot water worked (didn't in the other hotel), the people were friendly, the free breakfast was good, and having a shuttle to the airport was great.

Excellent local hotel

Very helpful and pleasant staff. They were able to accomodate my need to place frozen fish in the hotel freezer. Our wake up call and scheduled shuttle bus to the airport were right on time.

Not impressed

In Kodiak, there aren't a lot of choices and, unfortunately, the Best Western is about as good as it gets. The hotel is out-dated. The carpet is dirty. The beds aren't very comfortable. The food in the dining room is adequate but definitely not worth the price.

Best Western Kodiak

I have stayed here twice, the first time the room was at the front and had a great view of the marina. The second time the room was at the back and was a bit dark with some noticable noise from the hot tub, which was just outside the room. Staff at reception could be a bit slow but everyone was very helpful and went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable.
