There are better choicesPosted Jan 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
When I checked out of First Bunglow I realised there are far better choices for the money I paid, even along the Chaweng Beach. Our rooms were on the third floor, we had to lug our bags all the way as the building is without an elevator. Furniture in the rooms is very simple, not at all impressive. The buildings are close and did not have any few from our balconies. Overall - avoidable.

great locationPosted Jul 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Thai and Burmese staff are beautiful, smiling and friendly and very eager to learn more English and answer all our questions - they really take you into their hearts.Lovely resort at the quiet end of Chaweng Beach. Fabulous safe beach a few steps from the front door of our bungalow. Rooms serviced daily. Lovely cheap Thai restaurants (& cocktail bars) a short stroll away. Why stay anywhere else?

Nice hotel, but a bit to far from the "centre".Posted Jul 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed at First Bungalow Hotel for 2 days. The goal of out stay was to experience the beach and the night life of Chaweng. Hotel is located on the beach, which was very clean and not to crowded. It takes about 30-40 min walking and 5-10 min by Tuk-Tuk, to get to the "centre" of Chaweng, where the night clubs are located, which was a bit to far for our taste.

Decent for the price but don't expect muchPosted May 2, 2013
If you're looking for a cheap place to stay, this is not a bad option. It's right on Chaweng beach, and about a 15-20 min walk to the main shopping/nightlife area at Chaweng (or a 50 baht per person taxi ride). The breakfast buffet is pretty decent as well (good spread with a made-to-order egg station). The breakfast restaurant is right on the beach so that was pretty nice to dine next to the waves in the morning. But you get what you pay for and this is a budget hotel after all, so don't be surprised if certain things aren't great. I had a room in the First Building (cheapest rooms). My shower wasn't working and I had to wait an hour for someone to come fix it. The bed and pillows were very hard, the safe was broken, and there were no windows in the room. There is a balcony in the bathroom which gives you a view of other guests' balconies and air-con units, that's about it. I left my balcony door closed the entire trip because I thought it might also be quite unsafe - someone could easily climb into your room. On the whole, if you're looking for a cheap no frills place that's right on the beach, I'd recommend this resort.

Fantastic pool...Posted Sep 4, 2012 on Hotels.com
Really enjoyed the hotel. We had booked into a seaside bungalow which said had views of the sea, however were taken to the pool side bungalow. Probably a good thing as the seaside bunglows do not have views of the sea and are not as nice and quite a long way away from the rest of the hotel. Pool was amazing and huge, restaurant buffet breakfast good, beach beautiful. A short walk away from other restaurants and shops. Reception staff were ok, not overly helpful though. Also only beach bungalows have safe's inside rooms which was not as advertised. But overall had a fantastic stay and would go back again.

Great hotel, shame about the locationPosted Jul 15, 2012
Pros: Swimming pool is amazing. Room cleanliness was fantastic - the cleaners made sure they visited when you were away at breakfast etc so never disturbing
Cons: Location The lockers available for your important things were very dated and some even broken. Have to pay money each time you want to access it.
Location: In between Chaweng and Lamai beaches, too far to walk to any of the main districts. Some small shops/restaurants nearby.
Staff and the hotel was great. The swimming pool is amazing! Buffet breakfast was great, staff willing to cook different things if you requested it, great variety day-to-day. And wi-fi in the main lobby is free. The hotel's "private beach" is a bit secluded, and all the cabins from this hotel face out onto this beach so you feel like you're in someone else's back yard if you don't have a beach-front room. It is a LONG walk to the main area, both by beach and street. You will need to rent a scooter or take a taxi every day, as there is very little to do immediately in the vicinity of the hotel.

First house rooms set apart from main resortPosted Jul 5, 2012
Pros: The staff were very friendly, it was a small resort in a more quiet part of Chaweng which could cater for families
Cons: The lack of security which the building being set apart from the main hotel
Location: Very busy during peak times, but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle.
The rooms were a little out of the way of the main hotel and reception so unfortunately after an incident with a young man next door and a lady boy, the hotel put security at the rooms which wasn't there previously. Might want pool apartment or bungalow next time. Overall it was very quiet and the facilities were great.
