Superb boutique hotel

Posted Jan 24, 2015
Really enjoyed staying at the Kala - nice, quiet spa-like atmosphere. The bed was the best we had out of 5 different locations in Thailand, as well as the air conditioning was much cleaner than our previous location and we were able to keep it on at night without feeling significantly ill upon waking - can't say the same about our previous, more expensive hotel. The breakfasts were amazing, as well as the fresh fruit drinks. Did not get a chance to snorkel and kayak in front of the hotel due to poor ocean conditions, which was a giant disappointment, but nothing anyone could control. Our only regret was that we did not book more than 4 nights at this location.

A nice, long stay

Posted Jan 17, 2015
Pros: Location, ambiance and the staff. The internet connections were good and the rooms were very cozy. It s nice to have a breakfast included, and ample
Cons: The dinner prices were a bit high, and the except for the indonesian night was not a lot of food. Hotel massage prices were too high.
Location: Location was great, in between the two major island cities, and fairly high up. The views were wonderful from the rooms and restaurant.
We stayed 10 nights, and loved it. Location is great, rooms are ample on size and comfortable, and the staff is wonderful and accommodating. The helped us with extras, like renting motor scooters, and seemed to legitimately car about our well being. We would stay again.

First I check in, they gave me wrong type room...but they have changed. When you order breakfast or dinner, you need to ask...because they don't speak. After all The Kala is GOOD~

A view that makes you feel special

Posted Dec 28, 2014
Pros: Peaceful/quiet, breakfast being available any time in the day, beautiful rooms, beautiful sea views everywhere and fantastic staff
Cons: Nothing!
Location: chaweng is near by (10 mins by taxi) and lovely to explore, Lamai (5 mins by taxi) is a bit more relaxing and you can get great massage on the beach.
The staff at the Kala just made us feel so welcome. Nothing was a problem and everything was delivered with a smile. The rooms themselves are just as beautiful as they are in the pictures and have a really homely vibe without the usual 'hotel' stuffiness. The view is so fantastic that we sat on our balcony enjoying it for hours. In fact the whole hotel has incredible views all round. Whether you are in the restaurant, lobby or pool you always look at the beautiful sea. The location is great because you are just between two lovely towns but away from the noise. The little beach is easy to find and feels very private. The fact the breakfast was available any time, from 6:30 am to 6 pm, was such a lovely touch for a completely relaxing, wonderful holiday. Its also a very quiet hotel- we slept so well. No banging techno at 3 am, just the sound of the sea and the birds. We are really sad to be home and can't wait to return.

Amazing hotel! Best I saw on the island!

Posted Dec 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
Such an awesome hotel. The staff is extremely nice and hospitipable. If you get a room that has breakfast included, it is served until 6pm. It is a large, amazing meal with lunch/dinner type options. The hotel is conveniently located in between the Chaweng and Lamai beaches. You should usually be able to get a cab back to the hotel for 300 baht from most places on the island.

Great hotel

Posted Dec 5, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: meals were served very quickly in the hotel restaurant. No time between courses
Location: location is secluded but that's what we wanted. Very cheap food at Chewang beach and shopping also Lamia beach. Waterfalls big Budda kayaking
The Kala is a traditional Thai hotel. The staff were so friendly very helpful and always smiling. The location is perfect for a quiet getaway. However we did rent a motorbike as walking into town was a bit of a hike. Taxis are accessible but can run pricey if you have to do a few trips back and forth. The breakfast was always fresh and the hotel restaurant had a good selection of food, of course it is cheaper to eat out but you expect that. Overall we would definitely stay there again. Would not recommend for children do to the lack of beach front and proximity to town. Although the staff would gladly welcome children.
