Kumarakom Lake Resort is sheer bliss from AlleppeyPosted Apr 10, 2015
We took a 2 day houseboat from Alleppey booked through the resort (beware of cheaper houseboats that will disappoint you) and had the experience of a lifetime. It was simply amazing to be able to experience and share the daily lives of the people who live by the backwaters. Our onboard chef catered for all our needs and was always going that extra mile. When we docked at the Resort the 5* service continued.Everyone should do this - you will never regret this journey. I would however suggest that more facilities to cater for children would be welcome as whats on offer is very limiting.I would like to have seen more variety of western cuisine to cater for those who don't like spicy food - especially for children. Finally, please don't charge for wifi as this is a necessity and not a luxury these days.If you have to charge for this service than loose it in your room rates.

We'll be backPosted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: The meandering pool villa and the sea food restaurant
Cons: The staff need more training. They need to be more attentive and a smile wouldn't hurt. The transport desk is a joke and their prices are sky high!
Location: Kottayam is near by but the best thing to do is to enjoy the lake and their sunset cruise.
The resort itself is outstanding and in particular the meandering pool villa we stayed in was quite something. The scenic view of the lake and the sublime food at the sea food restaurant will surely see us stay here again. The staff were a bit inattentive and always on their phones. The reception area too was a bit depressing and needs to be re-arranged. Their back water cruise that we paid Rs 2400 for was a total disappointment. We did manage to go to their spa and would recommend the treatments.
